Dominic Raab defends calling feminists ‘obnoxious bigots’. Good man.

A piece published online today by The Guardian. The start and end of the piece:

Dominic Raab has defended his claim that feminists are some of the most obnoxious bigots and that men are getting a raw deal, saying he does not want “double standards” in the debate on equality.

The former Brexit secretary, a leading candidate to be the next prime minister, was challenged on BBC One’s The Andrew Marr Show about his comments from 2011, when he said: “From the cradle to the grave, men are getting a raw deal. Feminists are now amongst the most obnoxious bigots.”

He stood by the position by saying it was “really important that in the debate on equality we have a consistency and not double standards and hypocrisy”…

Previously, Raab has described the Government Equalities Office, which leads work on policy relating to women, sexual orientation and transgender equality, as “pointless” and suggested it should be abolished.

An overdue holiday

As yet another working day ends after midnight…

I worked as a consultant for the Conservative party over 2006-8, and I can trace my red pill moment to the autumn of 2009, when David Cameron (leader of the Conservative party, then in opposition) announced his intention to introduce all-women shortlists for Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs). I cancelled my party membership that day, as did many others, recognizing his decision as being profoundly anti-meritocratic, unConservative, and anti-male.

On the plus side, it put me on the track which led me to doing what I do today. There’s no other job I’d rather be doing, but in the past 10 years I haven’t taken one substantial holiday, and I could sorely do with one. I earn nothing from my work for J4MB, so I was delighted when a generous Australian supporter recently sent me some money for a good holiday. And so it is that I’ll be flying abroad on Monday for a two-week-long break in the sun. I’ll be keeping my work to a minimum while I’m there, if you have anything urgent to communicate over that time, please contact Elizabeth Hobson (elizabeth@j4mb.org.uk). Thank you. I should be fully up and running again by 13 June.

£170 still required to hit the £1,500 crowdfunder target for Anthony Corniche to attend and film presentations at ICMI19. Let’s do this.

Anthony Corniche (“Tom”, long story) yesterday travelled up to Cambridge University with a lot of equipment to record video footage of the talks of Elizabeth and myself. Editing always takes much longer than filming, but the videos should be out in the near future.

The chanting of the students (and others) went on throughout the talks, and constituted an audio backdrop illustrating why the talks had to take place, which they did, thanks to a large number of security staff. For some time the threatening mob barred entry to the building to people who’d ordered tickets, and we know quite a number of those people declined to face the threatening crowd, knowing the talks would soon be published on our YouTube channel. It is of course ironic that the people who had falsely accused J4MB of threatening and harassing people, were themselves threatening and harassing people.

Tom is one of the hardest-working people I know in the Men’s Rights Movement. He filmed and edited the footage of the presentations at the last three ICMI’s. He’s already been booked to do the same for the next three ICMIs, including Chicago (host countries for ICMI20 and ICMI21 will be announced during ICMI19). His £1,500 crowdfunder target has so far raised £1,330, I would ask you to donate what you can afford, so the target is met soon. The website is here. Let’s do this. Thanks.

Charlotte Proudman, self-declared “feminist barrister”, shows solidarity with the women behind yesterday’s milkshake incident

Charlotte Proudman, a vile woman – what does “feminist barrister” mean, if not “anti-men barrister”? – has been the subject of quite a few of our blog pieces, here. My thanks to Elizabeth Hobson, our Director of Communications, for informing me Proudman (how she must love that surname) yesterday tweeted support for the women who threw milkshakes over me yesterday, a barrister expressing public support for a physical assault on a political party leader. The comments stream is overwhelmingly critical of Proudman, and supportive of us. In case the tweet is pulled, it’s here, along with a selection of comments.
