Our thanks to a supporter for this. Sir Steve House’s statements are surely driven by concerns over legal actions by members of the public who’ve been injured whilst helping officers – especially men who’ve come to the aid of female officers (because women won’t). If a police officer needs help dealing with a violent person, how can it be “safe” to help that police officer? Absurd.
Cressida Dick wishes to see women occupy 50% of posts in the Met. The reduced number of men will inevitably still have to deal with the same amount of physical violence, leading to them taking on disproportionately more risk, while the female officers hang around in the background, as they invariably do. Still, a small price to pay to get more wimmin into uniform, eh?
Male unemployment has long been higher than female unemployment, and such initiatives as Cressida Dick’s can only increase the difference. Unemployment is a major driver of male suicide, but not female suicide. So the initiative will lead to men ending their own lives.
