This is nothing but racist identity politics. Jo Rust, former Labour Party candidate for North West Norfolk, claims it is being done to address under representation. The same argument that is used to exclude certain people from standing as Parliamentary candidates solely on the basis of their biological sex.
Seems to me that the Labour Party, a party I was actually once a member of and supported fervently, is getting quite good at discriminating against certain groups on the basis of under representation.
