Well recommended Elizabeth Hobson does a really good job in giving a history of the development of “the right to vote” from the surprisingly narrow electorate of the early 19th Century onwards. A good resource for any “student” of our constitutional history in fact. A reminder that the American revolution “no taxation without representation” reflected the general idea current till the early 20th century that the franchise was for those with property and paying tax on it.
