  1. An attack on free speech inline with leftist proceedure, quickly followed by the complainant’s dismissal, suggesting she’s caused trouble before, and known for it.

That she called herself ‘Jewel’ was a little bit of a warning clue that might have been missed one feels.

    • Agreed she found it offensive, but £9,000 compensation? Women say plenty of offensive things to men in the workplace, when does that ever result in the men getting such compensation?

      • Discrimination compensation is another matter. It should never have been compensateable as a tort, but should have been on a modest tariff with £10,000 being the maximum for a long standing course of behaviour leading to genuine psychiatric illness. £9000 is excessive when compared to the sums payable for personal injuries – you wouldn’t get that for a nasty broken leg.

  2. it certainly wasn’t the nicest thing to say to a co-worker, but it was not done by the employer and it was not done from a position of power. It was merely a remark by a colleague. I have been told many things over the years that weren’t exactly compliments by women co-workers but never would I go to the police to lodge complaints, and certainly never would I be awarded any payouts for it. And besides, people are still free to express their opinions. There was no racism or misogyny Involved.

  3. Expressing an opinion may or may not be offensive but it’s not grounds for censorship and rarely grounds for justified complaint. Employers usually have good grounds for sacking an employee, and rarely due to sex or age discrimination. But in today’s cultural climate a tribunal will always follow the path of political correctness. Which means that employers must take careful steps to keep records and evidence supporting their decisions.

  4. Wow, if I wish people would pay me 9 grand everytime a woman in an argument insulted my masculinity. I’d make a fortune; maybe this kind of financial incentive explains why feminists are such c***s all the time?

  5. I have learnt to be careful what I say in the workplace. When I have to speak to women it’s brief,on the level and to the point……many of these females are just waiting to be offended, don’t give these vindictive individuals any ammunition.
