‘We are ruining young people’s lives, one after another’: MP’s aide Samuel Armstrong, 24, cleared of rape, calls for anonymity for suspects as he slams CPS boss Alison Saunders for creating ‘competition’ to get convictions

Our thanks to Mike P for this. The start of the piece:

Tory MP’s aide cleared of rape as it emerged evidence was only disclosed eight days before trial said today police and CPS do it because it ‘makes getting convictions easier’.

Samuel Armstrong, 24, from Essex, has pointed the finger at Director of Public Prosecutions Alison Saunders for creating a ‘competitive atmosphere’ to pursue sex cases.

He said: ‘Sometimes it is easier for them not to ask the difficult questions and push for things they know could undermine their case’.

His defence team is understood to have waited up to nine months for phone and medical records which his accuser, a parliamentary worker in her 20s, initially refused to hand over to police.

After being acquitted, Mr Armstrong, a senior aide to MP Craig Mackinlay, said he could have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice but for evidence handed over at the last minute.

  1. And here a case from 2013 eventually quashed after all the damage is done ;
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-42453405

    “Danny Kay’s sentence was quashed by the Court of Appeal after deleted messages were found in an archived folder backing his version of events.

    The 26-year-old had denied rape at Derby Crown Court in 2013 but was jailed for four-and-a-half years.

    Judges ruled on Thursday the new evidence supported his claim the sex was consensual.

    The messages showed that jurors at the trial had been given an “edited and misleading” picture of the conversation between the pair, the court heard.”
    Yet another where crucial evidence is somehow not brought to light despite being in Facebook.

  2. I am glad that he has called for anonymity for rape suspects but I believe that the Tories proposed this before the 2010 election and then didn’t follow it through. Perhaps as the reality of the present policy comes closer to home they will take it more seriously.

      • To screams from the women’s movements. Male politicians really do need to seek spine transplants, because this lack of resistance to feminism is emboldening feminist apparatchiks such as those in Nottingham to propose blatantly anti-male laws. They also need to stop paying “compensation”. The smell of money can affect some people adversely.

  3. The vile and loathsome Shami Chakrabarti – shadow Attorney General – was (yet again!) given airtime on the R4 Today broadcast this morning (Sat 23rd) in order to spin the duplicitous and malicious untruth that the current collapse of rape trials is really a consequence of ‘funding cuts to public sector’. According to the foul and execrable Chakrabarti, ‘Tory funding cuts’ may serve to account for every villainy and wickedness either here in Britain or anywhere else in the world.
    Unsurprisingly, she also added the blatant falsehood that ‘false allegations are a vanishingly small proportion of rapes reported to the police are false’. Such blatant lies. 90% of rape allegations reported to the police are false.

    Feminist vermin, such as the swindling and venal Chakrabarti, are actively deploying all measures in knavery to effect misdirection and distraction on this matter. Feminists are deploying every technique of propaganda in order to prevent the general public from joining the dots. The truth is that the CPS and Alison Saunders are wholly responsible for the ongoing slew of miscarriages of justice.

    If the general public really understood what was going on here, there would be an outcry of truly epic proportions.
