A good move here, would have been to give the landlords a written list of what was going to be discussed, such as :Men’s Suicide Risks; Men’s Health; Men’s treatment in the family and divorce courts; …and so on, making certain that nothing too extreme or objectionable was included. Then, when the women’s groups raised objection and the landlords caved in, it could be pointed out exactly what they were opposing.
I am not sure that the landlord cares what is being discussed or how just the cause .He doesn’t want trouble, and trouble is what the feminists will create.
Why doesn’t she go and say that she doesn’t want blacks to meet in her pub either? See how well that goes down!
Now that I think about it that sort of behaviour was a valid reason for making racism illegal (though I concur these days racism laws have degraded into making PC arrests) but perhaps we need to make misandry illegal, that way the landlord of the pub would be arrested for refusing to host the event on those grounds.
