Esther McVey MP “expected to stamp out the sexist attitudes of the party’s more traditionalist MPs, she has the perfect partner on whom to practice, fellow Tory MP Philip Davies, regarded as one of the most unreconstructed males in Westminster.”

piece by Glen Owen, the Political Correspondent of the Mail on Sunday. I loathe the word ‘unreconstructed’ as used in gender politics. Essentially it means “unchanged in line with feminists’ wishes”. Philip Davies will surely remain unreconstructed for the rest of his days, thank goodness. On the positive side, the piece ends with this (I’ve added relevant hyperlinks):

He also gave a speech at an event for Justice For Men And Boys (J4MB) – an anti-feminist political party – in which he complained about men who pandered to ‘militant feminists’ and ‘zealots’ and criticised the drive for ‘so-called equality’.

He contrasted the campaigns to increase the number of women on company boards and in Parliament with the ‘deafening silence’ over increasing the number of men who have custody of their children.

He also argued that the justice system favours women by sending fewer to prison and not making them wear uniforms.

He said: ‘The feminist zealots really do want women to have their cake and eat it. They fight for their version of equality on all the things that suit women but are quick to point out women need special protections and treatment on other things.’

His remarks led Labour to call for Theresa May to withdraw the whip from Mr Davies on the grounds that ‘he has open contempt for women’ and his views were ‘prehistoric’.

The J4MB party – which issues awards for ‘lying feminist’ and ‘whiny feminist’ of the month – once published an article titled ’13 reasons women lie about being raped’. [J4MB: Janet Bloomfield’s excellent article has remained permanently on our website since 12 May, 2015, when we first published a link. It’s near the start of the Key posts section.]

Its 2015 Election manifesto manifesto suggested men should receive their pension before women because they work harder and die younger.

  1. Completely agree with you on the word ‘unreconstructed’. The arrogance and condescension in that word captures the misandry behind feminism. It encapsulates the idea that men are fundamentally flawed and need to be remade, in accordance with feminist ideals. Women on the other hand are perfect and don’t need to be reconstructed.

    • And as a number of the comments point out Glen Owen fills the virtue signalling piece with comments about McVey’s glamorous appearance and past. I hope in a way it was intentionally humorous with Owen writing in precisely the “sexist” way “unreconstructed” men might do.
Unlike Glen Owen of course I have never heard or seen Mr Davies express any such trivialising views, even when faced with the feminist yobs in Parliament. He is scrupulously polite and even handed. In fact exactly the sort of person to bring some perspective to the current hyped frenzy. One thinks his level headedness may assist McVey to navigate this particular storm in a teacup.

  2. Here is a quote from John Bercow’s wife…

“Since John became Speaker, the number of women who hit on him has gone up dramatically.”
