“There is no other city in the world where I would want to raise my daughters,” Mayor Sadiq Khan, who assumed office in May 2016, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
The first Muslim to lead any Western capital, Khan wants his city to be a trailblazer on gender equality too.
He praised London as one of the world’s most progressive capitals, where women take key roles across society, leading heavily male-dominated workforces that fight fires, catch criminals and run governments.
But the mayor warned against complacency.
He highlighted the city’s significant gender pay gap and said there were still too few women role models at the highest levels in public life.
“As a proud feminist, I’m committed to doing everything I can to remove these barriers to women,” he added.
“I want London to not only be the best city in the world to be a woman, I want it to be a trailblazer in fighting (for) gender equality in all its shapes and forms.”
“In all its shapes and forms”? Suicide? Unemployment? Cancer deaths? Genital mutilations?

Khan is a Marxoid, manipulative, corrupting, power-whore opportunist and all round nasty piece of work, from a similar mould as Ken Livingstone.
As such I attach all the importance it deserves to everything he says, and look forward to his early return the dark fetid and malodorous nether world which spawned him, and is his natural habitat where he surely belongs.
Apart from that, alright.

It’s stretching credibility to describe any London mayor as ‘leading’ the city. Khan certainly isn’t.

MRA’s should reflect on Sadiq Khan’s words when it comes to voting time.
However,the sad reality is that most career politician’s like Khan sing from the same PC hymn sheet as clearly demonstrated in this instance…….there’s not one of them worth a damn.
