  1. Agree 100%. The gender attainment gap co-incides with the replacement of the sudden death exam O Level with the coursework based GCSE, which was of course deliberately tailored to the plodding conscientiousness of girls.
    Let’s be honest, females are mostly B and A- students, and she’s also quite right about the bell curve of intelligence, though the bell curve theorists say it’s the top – and bottom – 2.5%. Since Cambridge traditionally “specialises” in the sciences you’d expect it to be more pronounced there.
    I had to check the calendar when I saw the piece about Oxford allowing females to cheat at home, because of course that is what they will do.
