Graham Mills is raising £50,000 to create a fairer legal precedent for maintenance payments

Our proposals on divorce and divorce settlements are on pp.57-60 of our 2015 general election manifesto.

Three months ago we posted a piece, Maria Mills, 51, is a parasite. An extract:

Senior judges at the Court of Appeal in London have now ordered that Mrs Mills’s monthly payouts be increased to £1,441 and told her ex-husband that he must support her for life as she is unable to meet her basic needs.

Their ruling came despite pleas by Mr Mills that he should not be the insurer against the wife’s poor financial decisions and forced to “pick up the tab” 15 years after they separated. It will fuel pressure for reform to end the so-called meal-ticket for life.

My thanks to Paul for pointing me to to an appeal by the husband in this case, Graham Mills, who wants to take the matter to the Supreme Court. He’s seeking £50,000, and we wish him every success in raising the money, and dealing a blow to parasitical ex-wives. Paul tells me he learned of the appeal after Baroness Deech re-tweeted it.

Cammelia Cheshire: “My mum and brother both ended their lives after he was falsely accused of rape.”

Our thanks to John for this. He writes:

Mike,

At least three papers covered an interview with Jay Cheshire’s sister yesterday. Obviously an incredibly important case and unsurprisingly she contemplated suicide too. One has to wonder how many other families have been wiped out by false allegations.

The original interview is in the Mirror. [J4MB: above link]

Other coverage by the Mail and Sun. Needless to say, I can’t find anything on the BBC.

Fighting feminism: Let’s get practical

The speech I’ll be giving at the Australian conference in 13 days’ time will be titled, ‘Let’s Get Visible: Beyond Keyboard Activism’. It will be the last speech of the conference. I’ve been giving it a lot of thought in recent weeks, and part of my preparations has been a review of materials produced in recent years by MRAs, including my own materials.

In December 2012, two months before the launch of J4MB, I penned the first of my many articles published by AVfM, Fighting feminism: Let’s get practical. I think much of the analysis is as valid today as it was then, and some of the content will make it into my speech.

A library of all my 60+ AVfM pieces is here.

General election: Conservatives outline domestic violence plans. Denial of the existence of male victims continues as usual.

Our thanks to Jeff for this piece on the BBC. He writes:

Perhaps with the new commission the Conservatives are proposing, Mike, they will identify that men are also victims in a significant number of cases of DV and should be helped as well.

Sadly, Jeff’s optimism is surely misplaced. Feminists working for Women’s Aid and other organizations in the DV industry are deeply influential in the Home Office and in other relevant government departments. There is no mention in the BBC piece of male victims, and the photograph at the top is of a man’s clenched fist, with a woman cowering in the background. Excerpts:

Ms Rudd [Home Secretary] said: “The fact is that across the country [standards] are varied, and part of [the reason for] this legislation and having a commissioner is to make sure that we raise standards everywhere, so that women [J4MB: our emphasis] get a good service, wherever they are.” [J4MB: Ms Rudd cannot be bothered to even pretend to give a damn about male victims.]

Sarah Green, co-director of the End Violence Against Women [J4MB: our emphasis] Coalition, welcomed the Conservative plans…

“We hope for an end to women [J4MB: our emphasis] and children being forced to flee for their lives while perpetrators [J4MB translation: men] walk free and continue their coercive control through the family courts.”
