William Collins: Legal Aid and Domestic Violence in the Family Courts

A simply outstanding article, confirming through forensic analysis the suspicions we and others have long held in this area.

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.

Just an invaluable piece of work. I remember that the truly frightening increase in the Mildands did get some coverage in the “trade” as it really did point to widespread playing the system. However Mr. Collins puts together the data nationally and makes a forceful case. I hope the few MPs who appear to be able to leave behind sound bite “white knightery” do get to se this.
Apart from the obvious human cost to men unjustly “tarred” as violent or abusive, and to their children thusly denied access. There are a number of political points.
    a. The agency charged with overseeing this part of public spending is very clearly not doing its job, at great cost. In a sense taking emotion out of it there is sharp practice if not fraud.
    b. The legislation on “orders” is clearly being misused and it was poorly drafted if it is so easy so to do.
    c. Publicly funded agencies are clearly fueling this through giving advice to lie in order to get public funds. Again public money being paid to “advice” services that advise fraud or perjury.
To be hones this particular issue is full of such startling data (the increase in the Midlands is circa 90% !!) that it seems an area for political campaigning.
And to CW its yet another instance wherein family relationships are further poisoned by egregiously discriminatory state action. For the women making the accusation it may seem an “administrative” manoeuvre to get state aid but clearly any man is going to see it as a huge slur from which it would be hard to see a recovery to a “relationship” to sort out the best for children. The data confirming that the state makes family break up much worse.
