Philip Davies MP: So-Called Feminist MPs Ignore Scourge of Sharia Courts

A tip of the hat to Philip Davies for this. His key point is about feminist MPs not being willing to challenge religious lobbies, but the same is true of ALL MPs and peers with respect to MGM.

  1. Fascinating. Mr. Davies shines quite a light on the goings on in Parliament. I can imagine some people disagreeing with some of Baroness’s causes. However even disagreeing it does seem significant that those so often going on about women’s voices couldn’t be bothered listening to these women visiting Parliament. Really does show them up as he says. Of course the existence of Sharia courts and indeed Jewish religious “courts” presents some difficult and contradictory issues in Britain. Some tough discussions and decisions. Unlike easy “virtue signalling”.

  2. perhaps Mr Davies would like to hear about my mistreatment at the hands of a sharia court, or not…

he has fallen into the trap of assuming its only muslim women that are mistreated by sharia. Men gets mistreated just as much in a way that would make feminist proud( which might explain their support for islam). The talak, talak, talak( i divorce you) phrase is not a divorce. you still have to petition the court for divorce just like the civil system( found that out from my own sharia lawyer). The phrase is an old tribal custom and has no legal basis

if you think family courts in the UK treats fathers very badly over their children then go and look at sharia law whereby mother gets automatic sole custody of children.

I would suggest Mr Davies go and listen to SIS( sisters of Islam) who have been campaigning for major reform of sharia law not just for women, but also for men. It was they who wrote the report on sharia family courts in several countries and pointed out that even if the mother is the sole breadwinner( feminist ideal) and the father is the primary carer for the children( eg not working) , the mother still gets automatic sole custody, assets( her own are not part of the marriage) and can expect maintenance.

I commend Mr Davies no nonsense approach to the hypocrisy that goes on in parliament and that he is willing to lend support to Muslim women who have been abused in the legal system, but he should be mindful that he may becomes as blinded as the feminists in assuming it only goes one way under sharia.
