William says, (inter alia!)
“Patriarchy, you will note, can have no relevance to a man not within a family.”
So obvious I’m a little miffed I did not think of it that way myself.
It certainly blows the feMarxist lie that ‘THE’ patriarchy exists as a sort of club formed of all men for the benefit of all men, clear out of the water.
This is the complete one stop shop answer in a single sentence to refute almost
all of the claims and fabrications made in pretence that it exists to suppress women — in fact to the extent that it exists at all, it is actually nothing to do with women, and only acts ON men!
In fact, I invite any man reading this to cast his mind back to his youth (if not still in it) and recall any social occasion, be it at a club, pub, party dance or what have you, and remember how many young men were there, and how few young women.
All the girls had to do was to practice sitting back and ‘sitting pretty’ and opportunity would come to them, whereas the boys would have to compete and achieve, and for those who couldn’t or WOULDN’T all that was left was to drink too much, prat about, bop to Status Quo and pretend they’d had a good time.
This is practical evidence approaching proof of William’s position, as supplied by ‘men’s lived experience!’
There is much else that could, and should, be said about William Collins’s quality piece, but in deference to each day consisting of only 24 hours (to Tulse Hill? – sorry!), I would like to attempt a summing up, however inadequate, by offering this ;
Why are women as they are?
Because they can be.
Why are men as they are?
Because they have to be.
