  1. I recommend watching JAck Reacher Never Back Down when it comes to DVD and blu ray — because I know nobody here would be unethical enough to pirate ….

Yes, there is feminism in it in the sense that the lead female role kicks most male asses. But there’s a scene where JAck Reacher is being ignored by her and he says, “Are you mad at me because I treated you like a woman, or because I treated you like a man.” It was a reference to when he said she should stay to look after the young girl and she objects, saying she’s encountered this gender stereotyping throughout her military career.

The truth is, she shows in the movie she IS better at babysitting the girl than Jack. Tom Cruise is channelling Clint Eastwood here. He owns her and she is raging but also very wet in a certain area.

It’s interesting this movie got heavily criticised by the media. I detect a real dislike of Tom Cruise by liberal luvvies in the media. It’s 1) Because he’s white male, and 2) because he doesn’t talk about his political views. If you’re a white male and you don’t talk about your political views, they assume you’re a “right wing extremist”.

  2. I forgot to say, the “treating you like a man” bit was a reference to when she got furious at his “sexism” and she squared up to him and he said, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, major.” She backed down because she knew she’d get wrecked.

IT may not have been the intention but it communicated that you can’t win with modern women. They want it all .

    • You have a good point Lawrence in observing that ‘modern women want it all’,
      this is true.
But I suggest that, largely due to evolution, they always have.

The difference, I think, is that they’ve never had the state on their side in quite the same way as now.
