Claire McCluskey attacked mum-of-two Kate Nield, 26, at a house party in Garstang Road, Southport on February 26 this year.

Doctors at Whiston Hospital spent an hour performing a skin graft on Miss Nield, taking skin from the back of her arm and putting it onto her face.McCluskey, 29, initially pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The judge says sending her to prison would serve the interests of the public but separating her from her family would not and he has to balance these public interests.
The second consideration is not a public interest, and used all too often as a ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card by women. Claire McCluskey should have received a lengthy custodial sentence.

As equality campaigners, suicide is a major issue for us all right now. Whilst it’s typically men who are driven to suicide by sexism, there’s too many women taking their lives too (albeit not an epidemic). Surely one of the aspects was that dangerous illegal drugs had been used also. I wonder what the position is of pc groups where the victim is also a female? Which side would they take? You can almost hear the cognitive dissonance. Or more likely the incredible silence.
