Another thought-provoking piece from Karen Straughan. At the London conference Karen will be speaking on the topic of ‘Toxic Femininity’. You can book your ticket for the conference here.

London MRAs at Speakers’ Corner
There’s a long tradition of public oratory at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park, London. Increasingly an intrepid band of mostly London-based MRAs are speaking there, usually on Sundays, and spreading the word. Two recent videos of their work (on Sunday, 6 March) are here (10:10) and here (23:50). I take my hat off to all these courageous men, and wish them well. I plan to join them one day.
UCL talks: Belinda Brown and Rick Bradford
Monthly evening talks at the UCL, hosted by the Gender Equity Network, have rapidly become ‘must attend’ events for those interested in gender matters, and living in London or within reasonable travelling distance. I try never to miss them. Videos of the last two talks have just been published:
Belinda Brown – Does gender equality further meritocracy?
– Part 1 (22:05)
– Part 2 (21:54)
– Part 3 (18:25)
Rick Bradford – Gender disparity in imprisonment (59:44)
We’re looking forward to the next talk, by Mark Brooks of Mankind, on 31 March:
Men’s and Boys’ issues in Westminster and Whitehall – why the silence?
Directions to the venue here.
Belinda Brown: Women’s Equality Party is about cushy jobs for the girls.
Excellent. I’ve left a comment, and invite you to do likewise.
NHS Scotland is carrying out MGM at taxpayers’ expense. FGM is a serious crime.
Our thanks to John for this. The start of the piece from NHS Forth Valley:
Some parents’ religion or belief means that they will want their male child to be circumcised as soon as possible after birth. NHS Scotland has developed a pathway to make sure that circumcisions can take place once it is clinically safe to do so.
Note: Female genital mutilation, sometimes referred to as female circumcision, is a serious crime and must not be supported by the NHS. It should be reported immediately as a child protection issue whether planned or undertaken in the UK or abroad.
Mr Mangina
Yesterday we posted a piece by Gary Orsum on Little Miss Andry, today we post his piece on Mr Mangina (video, 4:21). Gary’s YouTube library is here.
Government commits £80 million to stop violence against women and girls
Our thanks to Nigel for this. The government statement includes comments from four female ministers, and not even one sentence recognizing men and boys as victims of violence.
The world’s greatest philosophers – Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, David Hume, and… er… Anita Avramides, Lisa Shapiro
Priceless. We can’t decide whether to present Nicky Morgan, Education Secretary, Minister for Women & Equalities, a ‘Toxic Feminist of the Month’ award, or a ‘Gormless Feminist of the Month’ award. She does display a rare combination of toxicity and gormlessness. Maybe we’ll present both awards to her.
Suffragents’ first annual convention
Yesterday I attended the first annual convention of Bedford-based Suffragents, a very worthwhile experience, with some excellent speakers, some of them well-known. The leader of Suffragents presented the fascinating results of the organization’s Divorce Survey, which poses 30 questions. Well worth catching.
