Sexist, racist, heterophobic, anti-meritocratic. The purpose of this nonsense is obvious, to introduce all-women shortlists, as employed by Labour, which has resulted in blithering idiots such as Jess Phillips becoming MPs. The other suggestions (gay, disabled, ethnic minority…) will inevitably fall by the wayside.
Worth remembering how most Lib Dem (and Labour) female MPs vote (or fail to vote) when it comes to the most important an clear-cut men’s issues: https://hequal.wordpress.com/2015/03/24/are-female-mps-the-most-sexist-against-men-very-much-so-especially-if-theyre-lib-dems/
Maybe they’d hold onto their seats if they weren’t’ so misandrist?
“Sexist, hetrophobic, anti-meritocratic” – one could well add a fourth description, ‘desperate’ to the list, for they have nowhere else to go.
The Liberal Democrats continue the tradition of their immediate predecessors, the Liberal party.
Remember the days of Jo Grimond, flash in the pan Eric Lubbock in the Orpington bye election, David Steel ” Go back to your constituencies and prepare for government” ( prepare for obscurity turned out to be more like it). The ill fated and permanently five o’clock shadowed Jeremy Thorpe, Paddy (‘pants down’) Ashdown, the likable Charles Kennedy, so lonely that he took comfort elsewhere.
It’s all been tried, and failed.
So now this Tim Farron, who I could scarcely name until now, seems to have few options but to try and jump on the latest bandwagon of mere pretenders.
Pretenders in more than one sense, since their cover has already been blown, lies exposed, days of sweeping blitz krieg victories beginning to falter now the forces of democracy have finally, belatedly just begun to organise.
Now of course, this is not the end……
Nobody votes for them anyway so what difference does it really make?
You couldn’t make it up.
