Tyger Drew-Honey Takes On… Mike Buchanan, Ray Barry, and Josh O’Brien

[Note added 24.11.15: A link to the video on our YouTube channel is here.]

Yesterday evening BBC3 broadcast the latest episode in their anti-male series on gender-related matters. The presenter of Tyger Takes On… Am I Sexist? was 19-year old Tyger Drew-Honey, once an actor in the sitcom Outnumbered. Tyger is famous in part for being the son of the legendary British actor and porn producer Ben Dover and Linzi Drew, a former Page 3 model and porn actress.

The film crew recorded footage over a three- to four-hour-long period on a very cold day outside Nottingham University on 27 February, about ten weeks before the general election. As the film crew was about to wrap up for the day, three or four angry young men – I don’t know if they were students – appeared, were abusive towards us, and one hurled very soiled cat litter over the windscreen of our van. I captured a little video footage of the culprit skulking away – here.

I was later interviewed by Tyger Drew-Honey over a period of maybe 30 minutes. Not one second of that interview made it into the final programme. Tyger presents the cat litter incident as if it had taken place shortly after we started campaigning, when it happened at the very end.

The film crew must have recorded plenty of footage showing us in a good light, engaging positively with passers-by, and the BBC edited out almost all of that footage. The programme shows virtually nothing from what must have been substantial footage of feminists and manginas making complete idiots of themselves. But they included a few seconds of Ray Barry picking up some of the cat litter, and poked fun at him over the matter. Shame on the BBC.

The programme turned out to be precisely what we had always predicted:

Another BBC feminist propaganda piece.

A feminist teenager offers to help J4MB

Last night the BBC broadcast a programme, in the course of which there was a five-minute-long piece on myself, Ryan Barry, and Josh O’Brien. We’ll publish the segment on our YouTube channel in the next day of two, but I wanted to publish an offer of help from a feminist teenager, who emailed me at 2:15 this morning:

Hello,

My name is <name redacted> and i’m 19 years old from Preston, England.

First of all I just wanted to start off by saying I’m not a crazy feminist that is against men however, after reading your manifesto and all the context on your website [Reading all that material would probably take weeks, but she seemingly managed it in four hours.] i have to say your idea of feminism is wrong. But not untrue, feminism has be (sic) associated with men hating woman who are overpowering in their opinions.

I believe in equality not entitlements and supremacy. As a feminist I want to raise awareness about issues concerning men and I want have (sic) an equal representation for both sexes. I want to raise issues such as male rape, domestic abuses towards men, male suicides, and the high standards forced on men by society  along with much more.

I recently watched a program in which your party was apart (sic) of, on BB3 and i watched the hate thrown your way. I believe that, with my help, you maybe able to put forward your ideas in a less ‘woman bashing’ way. And be able to affectively (sic) voice your opinions. If you allow me to help you I think I can be a great addition to your team, as a woman I will be able to productively talk to other woman with issues involving men.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind Regards,

I politely declined the young lady’s offer.

Not long after the programme was broadcast, I received a somewhat more pithy response, from another feminist:

You are an absolute twat. Fuck off.

Philip Davies MP – his speech on International Men’s Day

Yesterday was a historic day for people interested in men’s human rights. Philip Davies, a Conservative MP, has a track record of being the only MP (from a total of 600+) to speak out in parliament on men’s issues. Yesterday he spoke at length on the matter, and later today a video of that speech will be published on our YouTube channel. The Hansard transcript is here.

Breitbart article and video – our anti-MGM protest yesterday, International Men’s Day

Yesterday a sizeable group of people protested against MGM for four hours in Parliament Square. We judged the thing a great success, handed out a large number of leaflets, and engaged in a considerable number of conversations with people, nearly all of them astonished that MGM is illegal. We’ll be posting a video in the next day or two, but we’ve just learned that Breitbart have posted a sneering article along with a short video. The woman who took the video said she was a ‘freelancer’.

Alison Saunders – her response to our FOI request is FOUR weeks overdue

Alison Saunders, Director of Public Prosecutions, failed to respond by the required deadline to our FOI request asking for minutes of meetings she’s had since she took on her role, with organizations advocating for victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse. Her response is now FOUR weeks overdue.

Our letter to Ms Saunders is here, and in a moment I’ll alert the Crown Prosecution Service to this blog post. We’ll publish a post each week on the delay by Alison Saunders, until we get a response.

Professor Michael Kimmel is the lowest form of life, a male feminist

Michael Kimmel is an American sociology professor as well as that lowest form of life, a male feminist. A tip of the hat to Janet Bloomfield for her critique of the mangina’s article in today’s Guardianhere – on the eve of International Men’s Day. From his Wikipedia profile:

Kimmel is a spokesperson of the National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS) and a longtime feminist.

The good people at AVfM host a collection of some of my articles and media appearances – here. In January 2014 we presented NOMAS with the only Toady award we’ve ever presented to an organization. The background to the story, and a link to their well-deserved award, are here.

International Men’s Day is TOMORROW, Thursday. Please join us in Parliament Square, protesting against the illegal and barbaric human rights violation of Male Genital Mutilation.

[Note added 3.11.15: Theresa May MP, Home Secretary, has declined to respond to our FOI request, which asked why the police aren’t prosecuting people who carry out non-therapeutic circumcision of male minors (Male Genital Mutilation – MGM), when the procedure is unquestionably illegal.

No politicians are denying MGM is illegal.

No civil servants, including those working for the Crown Prosecution Service, are denying MGM is illegal.

The police are not denying MGM is illegal.

The Home Office’s response to our FOI request is here.]

[Note added 8.11.15: We’ll be handing out over 2,000 leaflets during this protest, with some different content to the leaflets we handed out at the recent Conservative party conference in Manchester. The Men Do Complain content is here, while the J4MB content is here. You can access the supporting materials by clicking on the URLs at the bottom of each page.

We’ll be carrying six large placards, two apiece of three designs  – #1, #2, #3. Men Do Complain will be bringing their own placards, as well as a lengthy banner or two.]

Proof that the non-therapeutic circumcision of male minors is illegal in the UK was provided by a prominent barrister in 2013. The default position of the criminal law is that circumcision is a crime and it requires a parliamentary override to stop it being a crime. There is no such parliamentary override. In plain English, carrying out MGM is a criminal offence.

Three weeks ago J4MB supporters travelled to the Conservative party conference in Manchester, and over two days we supported the anti-MGM organization Men Do Complain (MDC). We handed out 2,000 leaflets – the design is here – and we engaged in a huge number of cordial discussions, many with circumcised men, including Jews and Muslims. A short video of our work is here, the third image above was taken on the second day.

We’ll be supporting MDC again on International Men’s Day, in Parliament Square, London, on Thursday, 19 November (12:00 – 16:00). A Men Do Complain blog piece – here – has details of the exact location, and other details. I may be wearing white attire with red marks, similar to the attire worn by MDC supporters at a protest in Belgrave Square, the second of the images above.

I invite you to join us on 19 November, please email me mike@j4mb.org.uk to let me know if you can make it. Some Men Do Complain T-shirts will be available, and if you can don white attire, all the better (red paint will be available). The key objective is to make ourselves (and in turn our messages on MGM) visible, and to once again distribute large numbers of leaflets to members of the public.

The protest will be video recorded, along with interview of passers-by, and we’ll be joined by a TV documentary maker and a cameraman, working on a project for an hour-long television programme on men’s rights issues and MRAs for a major British broadcaster.

The leaflets will point people to important materials such as the evidence that MGM is illegal in the UK and breaches numerous Articles of UN and EU conventions, as well as videos including the findings of the 2012 Global Survey on Circumcision Harm and Child Circumcision: an Elephant in the Hospital.

I look forward to you joining us at this important protest. We’ll be issuing a press release a week before the event, in a bid to maximise media coverage. We’ve been delighted with the number of people who’ve already said they’ll attend the event, but the more protesters we have there, the more impact we’ll have. It really is as simple as that. Please be there, if you possibly can.

Thank you for your support, and for doing what you can to end the barbaric illegal human rights violation that is MGM.

If you’re concerned about human rights violations of men and boys, resulting from the actions and inactions of the state – such as MGM, fathers’ denial of access to children following family breakdowns, denial of support for male victims of domestic violence, and so much more – we invite you you to join us at the second International Conference on Men’s Issues in London, July 8-10, 2016. Details here.

Peter Lloyd will be joining us at ICMI16

I’m delighted to report that Peter Lloyd will be joining us at ICMI16. Peter is a journalist with Mail Online and hails from Liverpool, but now lives in London. He was once a copywriter for Madonna.

Peter has penned some excellent articles on gender issues in recent years, and was the author of a well-received book, Stand By Your Manhood: A Game-changer for Modern Men. He’s had quite a few appearances on TV and radio, and nine months ago we captured a radio programme in which he robustly challenged an absurd London-based divorce lawyer on the issue of spousal maintenance. She employed the word ‘equality’ in quite a ridiculous sense. Enjoy.
