Tory men’s fury over rule that gives half of peerages to women in bid to save reputation of the Lords after Sewel scandal

Dave’s at it again. He just can’t help himself, it seems. From the article:

A veteran Conservative said: ‘The whole thing is absurd. Some of the women put forward are complete nonentities. And some of the men being turned down have first-rate brains and a wealth of experience. Nothing makes more of a mockery of Parliament than putting people in it who aren’t up to the job.’

  1. Sources say the Prime Minister believes that announcing 40 new Tory peers, with up to 30 of them male, would provoke a public backlash
By “public backlash” is really meant the media especially TV. I very much doubt the actual public give the H of L any thought at all. And juicy scandals involving Lords have been news regulars from the days of the Cavaliers. “Call me Dave” really does feed the media what he thinks it wants..

  2. I think it’s an excellent idea. The lower the standard falls, the more likely people are to call for the long overdue abolition of the Lords. What we really need is endless broadcasting of self-regarding brain dead women wittering on about how women are discriminated against in the juiciest jobs.
