Our thanks to a number of supporters for informing us of the return of the comments stream on the ‘Mirror’ piece – here. We don’t know if their absence last night was attributable to a technical issue, or they’ve been shamed into reinstating them. We thank John for archiving the 43 comments currently there – if they disappear again we’ll publish them here.

The ‘Mirror’ has pulled the comments stream on their article about the all-women audience at the BBC Radio Nottingham Ashfield hustings
Yesterday the Mirror published an insightful piece about the shameful decision of BBC Radio Nottingham to have an all-women audience for their Ashfield hustings. The piece attracted a lot of comments, almost all expressing outrage at the BBC’s anti-male decision.
Our thanks to eagle-eyed Claire for spotting that the Mirror has today pulled the comments stream from the piece. The censored piece is here.
Hmm, I wonder if anyone in the Labour party requested this cynical piece of censorship?
If anyone can track down a record of the comments, we’ll publish them. Thank you.
Nicola Sturgeon launches SNP Women’s Pledge
One of Nicola Sturgeon’s first actions after becoming the leader of SNP and First Minister was to appoint a gender-balanced cabinet. Our thanks to Jeff for pointing us to this.
Any Scotsman who votes SNP on 7 May will be a turkey voting for Xmas.
Being of 50% Scottish extraction myself, I hope that Scottish men (and Scottish women, for that matter) have more sense – for the sake of Scotland, and for the sake of the whole of the United Kingdom.
Mike Buchanan interviewed by a radical feminist for BBC ‘Sunday Politics’ (East Midlands)
Some important background to this piece under the video. Ray Barry was again treated very shabbily by the BBC.
Women in politics – The Stephen Nolan Show, BBC Radio Ulster
On 14 April I was interviewed (along with the female journalist who’d founded ‘Women into Politics’) by the estimable Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster. The audio file is here.
Mike Buchanan and other Ashfield candidates answer questions from an all-women audience – BBC Radio Nottingham
Two days ago I took part in a deeply frustrating hustings arranged by BBC Radio Nottingham, to which they had invited only women to be audience members. My thanks to K for uploading the audio file onto our YouTube channel – here.
My sometimes disruptive approach to the programme will make more sense if you read the short background to the piece, under the video. As always, please leave any comments there rather than here. Thank you.
Herbert Purdy: ‘Men fighting back against feminism? Not likely!’
Kathy Gyngell recently penned an article for The Conservative Woman blog following the serialisation of parts of Peter Lloyd’s book Stand by Your Manhood by the Daily Mail. Herbert Purdy has published a thought-provoking response to Kathy’s article – here. We agree with his analysis, although we believe that radical feminism as a political force can be (and will be) destroyed by anti-feminist and non-feminist political parties. We believe there’s a historical inevitability about it, and the majority of both men and women will lead happier lives as a result.
There’s a link early in Herbert’s piece to Kathy’s article. I recommend you read not only both articles, but also the fascinating comments stream under the latter.
Mirror: ” ‘Men’s rights’ party leader left fuming after he’s invited to hustings with all-female audience”
Our warm thanks to G for pointing us to this.
Two Reddits on men being banned from a BBC Radio Nottingham audience
Two Reddits were posted earlier today on the issue of men being banned from the audience at the BBC Radio Nottingham debate tonight, at which all five candidates for the Ashfield constituency spoke – J4MB, Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem, UKIP. Our blog hits have gone through the roof, as a result.
All 15 audience members were women, all were vetted by the BBC. One of the BBC women justified the fact that all the audience members were female because 52% of voters are women. You couldn’t make it up.
The focus was on women’s issues, and I (uniquely among the candidates) spoke mainly about men’s issues, sometimes by ignoring the content of the audience questions altogether. We’ll post the audio file on our YouTube channel tomorrow, and publish a blog piece linking to it.
The two Reddit links are here and here, I invite you to submit your own comments.
Janet Bloomfield: ‘Lemons, Panties, Lies and @AmandaMarcotte’
Here at the J4MB headquarters, we’re all huge fans of Janet Bloomfield (‘JudgyBitch’), a Canadian Honey Badger (a female anti-feminist or non-feminist, men’s rights advocate, or two of the three). For new followers to this blog, her latest blog piece should explain why.
