Your invitation to Nottingham University – Saturday, 14 March
We are going to continue with our peaceful efforts at engaging with Nottingham University students and staff, which we did last Friday. Hopefully there won’t be a repeat of anything like the soiled cat litter incident. We have no wish to intimidate or threaten anyone, we simply seek calm rational discussions with people who are prepared to accept that there might be men’s and boys’ issues which need to be addressed, such as the 20 issues in our election manifesto.
The venue will be the same as before, just outside the West Entrance of the University Park campus of Nottingham University. Details of the location and a map may be found here. There are a number of Pay & Display car parks on the campus, and the best Postcode for those using satnav is NG7 2QL.
We plan to be at the venue over 11:30 – 14:00, on Saturday 14 March. We plan to repeat the event several more times over the weeks before the general election on 7 May.
We will have leaflets for supporters to hand out to passers-by. It’s the one currently being distributed door-to-door on behalf of Ray Barry, leader of Real Fathers for Justice, our candidate for the Broxtowe constituency in which many of the students reside. Ray will be with us, and we hope Ian Young – our candidate for the Sherwood constituency – will be able to change his existing plans for the day, and also join us.
We look forward to seeing plenty of supporters at the event, and we hope it will be peaceful and constructive.
If physically assaulted, we will not respond with violence. If you don’t think you can manage such self-control, we ask that you don’t attend. Thank you.
William Collins: Athena SWAN – a government initiative to disadvantage male researchers working in STEMM fields
Another outstanding piece from William Collins, this time about a particularly egregious government initiative relating to women working in STEMM research.
Feminism: the ugly truth
I don’t know if Nicky Campbell’s mention of my book Feminism: the ugly truth on The Big Questions yesterday is the cause, but sales of the book have risen sharply, and it’s currently the #3 bestseller in the Amazon Kindle ‘Government & Politics’ category – here.
Mary Johnson writes about the false rape allegation against her son
In the majority of prosecutions against men for rape, the men are cleared.
Shortly after yesterday’s broadcast of The Big Questions, a lady sent me an email. ‘Mary Johnson’ is a pseudonym, and the content of her email has been changed only in a very slight way so as ensure the case cannot be identified:
“Just wanted to send you a message of support after watching the debate on today’s show, although you barely got a fair hearing as Natalie constantly interrupted you. I am quite frankly sick to death of Alison Saunders coming up with yet more ways to make it easier to charge men with rape, I think the fact that reports of rape have gone up by some 30% in the last two years and conviction rates haven’t increased in line with this, speaks for itself. It would appear that a jury of 12 are considered intelligent enough to reach a verdict on any other crimes, but with rape, it would seem the goalposts are constantly being moved in favour of women. I read last week that there are more men in jail in the UK for rape than any other country in Europe, this again makes no sense, other than bias in this country’s legal system against men.
You may have guessed that I have a very personal interest in this, my 21 year old son was given a unanimous Not Guilty verdict (the jury deliberated for a very short period of time) 3 weeks ago, but not before our family had been through nearly 18 months of hell. My son was covered in lovebites (proven to have come from this girl from saliva tests) she however did not have a mark, on her saliva tests proved she had performed oral sex on him and she is clearly shown following my son into a taxi outside a pub from CCTV camera footage, but claims she did not give consent.
I thank goodness that we have people like you, David Osborne, Sarah Vine and Barbara Hewson to be brave enough to stick your heads above the parapet, and try to redress the balance.
Best wishes,
Mary Johnson”
Phil McCracken, thank you.
Because we moderate all the comments on our blogs – well, we don’t want feminists posting crazy stuff, so we? – I personally read all of them, and pass almost all. I wish there were more hours in the day to engage in exchanges with the commenters, but I want them to know their contributions are a constant source of information, encouragement, inspiration, and sometimes amusement.
Firmly in the final category is a comment posted not long ago by one of numerous highly valued commenters, Phil McCracken. I’ve just had the pleasure of passing a comment he submitted with respect to today’s The Big Questions programme, in which Natalie Collins interrupted other speakers shamelessly. Phil posted the following gem:
For the record. I do not and will not ever consent to sex with Natalie Collins.
Mike Buchanan in a debate about sexual consent on the BBC TV programme ‘The Big Questions’
My thanks to H for loading an edited version of this morning’s The Big Questions in Cardiff onto our YouTube channel – here. I’ve put a short commentary under the video (which is about 19 minutes long) and hope to expand on it in due course, if I get some free time. Anne Atkins, a writer and broadcaster, made an excellent contribution to the debate. She kindly posed for a photograph with me afterwards.
Natalie Collins, a feminist contributor, trotted out precisely the same lie about the incidence of rape in the UK which led to us awarding Special Snowflake her second ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ award. I can’t imagine the day will ever come when we run out of contenders for the award.
