A silly article in today’s ‘Observer’

There’s a lengthy but unremittingly silly article by Catherine Bennett in today’s Observerhere. She does the usual lazy journalist thing of inventing policies we don’t have – for example, that we wish to have women excluded from company boards, which is ridiculous – then attacks the invented policies. She claims Labour is our main target at the general election, although the MPs in two of our three target seats are Tories.

I’ve left a short comment pointing readers to the election manifesto and invite you to post your own comments. Thank you.

Another sneering article from the ‘Telegraph’

Another reminder of why the reputation of the  Telegraph has plummeted among people with right-of-centre political persuasions in recent years. Michael Deacon is the paper’s ‘Parliamentary Sketchwriter’ and you might reasonably expect him to critique at least some of the policies in our election manifesto. You might, but you’d be disappointed. His piece, published online about 18 hours ago, is nothing more than a lazy sneer at the only political party in the UK campaigning against the state’s assaults on the human rights of half the country’s citizens.

He appears, from his photograph, to be a fairly young man. One day, after a divorce court has handed over much of what he’s worked hard for over many years to his ex-wife, and a family law court has failed to ensure him access to the children who the state forces him to support financially, he’ll sing a different tune.

If he then seeks support from men’s rights advocates, I hope they tell him to go to hell.

Interview on Notts TV

Some hours after my appearance on This Morning – a programme in which Caroline Criado-Perez lied, and later changed her story – I was interviewed in the studios of Notts TV – here. I’ve put some commentary underneath the video.

The staff at Notts TV were charm personified – Oliver, the lady floor manager, and Jess in particular – and I hope to return before the general election on May 7. Maybe they could bring in Gloria De Piero MP, kicking and screaming…

A very silly article in the ‘Telegraph’

Of all the ill-informed pieces I’ve read since the mainstream media started to give us exposure two or three days ago, this piece in the Telegraph might just be the worst. Tom Fordy, the writer, doesn’t even manage to get the party name right.

Fordy considers it sexist for men to occasionally glance at attractive women, among other things. While the article is execrable, the comments stream (150+ comments so far) is fascinating – a few familiar names there – and the overwhelming consensus is that the article is dreadful, and what we’re doing is commendable. The level of upvoting of comments sympathetic with our analysis of gender politics is very encouraging. Happy days.

“Goodbye son, try to be a good lad…”

There are a total of around 110,000 households across the three constituencies in which we’ll be standing at the general election (Ashfield, Broxtowe, Sherwood) and around 170,000 registered electors live in those households.

We’re finalising the literature we’ll be handing out during our street campaigning and door-to-door leaflet drops – a highly respected documentary maker will be filming our work, on at least one day – and all 110,000 households will be receiving J4MB campaign materials, including this poster to place in their windows, to express support.

Please donate whatever you can afford to help us finance more campaign literature. Nobody at J4MB earns any income from donations, and we don’t expect that will ever change. You can donate here (scroll down until you reach the piece about donating). Thank you, and have a good weekend.

Caroline Criado-Perez nominates herself for her third ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ award

Before J4MB was launched almost two years ago, we launched the Anti-Feminism League and Campaign for Merit in Business. Doris has been a valued supporter of our work – she’s been a generous and regular donor – from the outset, and despite some recent health problems, not a week goes by in which we don’t have a number of interesting discussions.

Doris often points us towards pieces in the media, but she’s just emailed me to point out that Caroline Criado-Perez brazenly lied in the course of yesterday’s This Morning programme – estimated audience, over two million – thereby publicly nominating herself for her third ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ award. If awarded it, she would overtake Special Snowflake (Laura Bates, the genius behind The Everyday Whining Project) which in itself would be an impressive achievement.

Over the weekend I’ll consult with the National Awards Committee – which is gender-balanced, obviously – and see what the committee members think of the lie which only eagle-eyed Doris (so far) has spotted. CC-P might also win a ‘Gormless Feminist of the Month’ award on the strength of later contradicting her lie, thereby becoming the first holder of three different J4MB awards (she also holds a ‘Whiny Feminist of the Month’ award) .

After we’d finished the studio interviews yesterday, I publicly presented CC-P with her two ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ award certificates, including this one. She complained – good-naturedly, to be fair, she’s keen to dispel the image of a terminally miserable hatchet-faced radical feminist, an image she cultivated successfully for a long time – about the picture not being based on her. I patiently explained we have better things to do with J4MB funds than employ graphic designers to pander to her vanity.

It’s an intriguing phenomenon, feminists seeking to reinvent themselves as anything but the angry men-hating harridans we all know them to be. If the mainstream media ever stops giving uncritical platforms to lying feminists, maybe CC-P and Special Snowflake could form a comedy double act.

BBC Radio Nottingham: Another day, another ridiculous feminist…

I’m not a ‘morning person’, and I don’t relish early morning interviews. But it’s worth getting up early to debate with feminists as ill-prepared and ridiculous as the one I met this morning in the studios of BBC Nottingham. The exchange is here and it started at around 08:05 today.

Our thanks to H for taking excerpts from the course over three-hour long show. Andy Whittaker was the presenter, and his comment at the very end was ill-informed – he stated the key feminist narrative on the gender pay gap as if it were a fact supported by evidence, rather than a myth – but it’s useful as an indicator of how successful feminist brainwashing campaigns have been, decade after decade.

Mike Buchanan debates with Caroline Criado-Perez

It’s been a groundbreaking three days. Following the Buzzfeed News piece which was published at 8am on Wednesday – and by midnight on the same day had attracted over 146,000 ‘hits’ – we’ve had many calls from journalists in the mainstream media. Pieces have appeared – or will shortly appear – in major publications including the Independent, Telegraph, Guardian, Observer, Mirror, either their print editions or on their websites. Most have posted pieces lying about, or misrepresenting, our election manifesto, but we honestly couldn’t care less. Thousands of people have downloaded the document, and it doesn’t take them long to realize the media are lying to them about its contents, or grossly misrepresenting it.

In the past two days I’ve had three television interviews and a radio interview, and more are planned. Yesterday I was a guest – along with Caroline Criado-Perez – on This Morning, an ITV programme which regularly attracts over two million viewers (mostly women). The file is here, please leave your comments on the YouTube channel rather than here. There’s some background information under the video.

We’re working ridiculously hours coping with the mainstream media interest in J4MB – when we were already busy campaigning in our three target constituencies – and we have no doubt this week will in time be recognized as the week the mainstream media realized it had no choice but to start reporting about men’s and boys’ human rights violations. This explosion of media attention is the fruition of the work of a remarkable team of people at J4MB over the past two years – work for which none of them are paid anything – and if you’d like to demonstrate your appreciation of that effort, I invite you to make a donation here. Thank you for your support.

Buzzfeed News article on J4MB – over 146,000 views

We end a long day by thanking BuzzFeed News for a piece they posted about 16 hours ago – here. It’s already had over 146,000 views, attracted over 800 comments, and led to online pieces from the Guardian and Independent. We’ve had messages of support from around the world.

Some of today’s interviews will appear in the major print and online media outlets in the next few days – the first of them in a national paper, today (Thursday). I have three TV interviews scheduled over the coming two days – the first of them just 10 hours away – and we’ll post them on our YouTube channel as soon as we can.

We’re finally seeing our long-anticipated mainstream media breakthrough. It’s been a remarkable day for J4MB, our supporters, and our donors. Please donate what you can to help us campaign for justice for men and boys, even if you can’t afford much, here. Thank you for your support.
