  1. On the plus side (one has to try) there is some interesting data here on the funding being allocated. I note in particular “£500 million available since 2010 to local authorities and the voluntary sector to prevent and tackle homelessness and rough sleeping, helping the most vulnerable in society – including victims of domestic abuse”. Given that ~90% of the homeless / rough sleepers are men, I’m assuming the vast bulk of this £500M goes on PV. It would be nice to get hold of some sort of balance sheet showing where the money goes. (I’m thinking of Paul Elam’s post yesterday on White Ribbon Australia which showed that any spending on actual victims was notable for its absence).

  2. Actually what happens is that some of the money gets re-packaged from homelessness and put into a special fund for Refuge and Womensaid( the main beneficiaries). This is because demand for these services is actually low ( for instance DV has fallen by 78% over the past 20 years.) So councils want to provide more flexible supportto reflect need rather than fund very inflexible services( which are of no use to men , or women with teenage male children, or people looking for simple accommodation rather than going through a “programme” etc.). This is the result of the lobbying, particularly womensaid and refuge , because councils have been moving away from funding very specific and exclusive”services”.
