Robert Franklin explains the Extreme Heat Rule which will apply only to female players in the US Open Tennis Championships

Robert Franklin game a wonderful talk in Detroit. I could listen to someone with his Deep South accent talk for an hour about different varieties of rhubarb, but the content of his speech – it’s here with a full transcript – was excellent.

I’ve just enjoyed reading a new piece written by Robert, just published by AVfM, about the ‘Extreme Heat Rule’ which is available only to female tennis players – you know, the ones who play far fewer games than the male players – at the US Open Tennis Championships, currently being held in New York. As with a number of other major tennis championships – including Wimbledon – the women get the same prize money. And now they’re not expected to play when it’s… er… hot. Seriously, you have to ask yourself:

Are normal women – feminists are excluded, by definition – not mortified by this kind of thing?

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.

  • tennis female players are so oppressed, much more than miners

  • what it shows is that women want equal pay even if their performance is zero %,compared to men’s. The biggest shame falls on those men ( usually of the gentleman type) who still propagate women’s agenda, are reluctant to hold women accountable because they are ‘ladies’, and thus undermine the beleaguered men and boys. To be a ‘gentleman’ today is starting to have the same connotations as being a traitor to men’s justice and happiness. We now need ‘gentlewomen’ who will return the favour and start treating men in a preferential manner. But I don’t think this will ever happen,as most of our women are as hard as nails by now.

  • Biologically the rule is all wrong as well. The smaller in size the easier to lose heat. The more muscle the more heat you produce and the longer your play the hotter you get. Fat can insulate but women sports stars have significantly less of that than the average woman. So who needs the rule the least? We know why this is done, on the whole more people want to see male tennis players play. It generates the higher ticket sales. Therefore they get the most prize money….oops something went wrong with my logic there. Women get the same prize money for less games because of equality. How could I not see that?
