From near the end of the article:
Hall was arrested and later had a breath test. He reading was 81 micrograms of alcohol, the court heard. The legal limit is 35mg.
The district judge adjourned the hearing, warning Hall she would possibly be given a community sentence.
A woman about to drive a coach load of people, with a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit, would possibly be given a community sentence. And people wonder why men outnumber women 20:1 in British prisons…
No more gentlemanly justice system please! If gentlemanly manners mean women get off the hook after committing serious crimes, then it is time to stop giving them any preferences. With jails swelling to breaking point with male prisoners and female prisoners a very small fraction and shrinking, isn’t it time to call the ‘justice’ system a complete failure?

Thank you. It is INDEED time to do so. The leniency shown to women by the justice system in the UK – and by justice systems right across the developed world, from what I can gather – is scandalous.
