Janet Bloomfield: Seduction versus coercion – accountability is such a b****

High on the list of people I’m most looking forward to meeting at the Detroit conference in late June is a Honey Badger, Janet Bloomfield (‘JudgyBitch’). We’ve linked to many of her articles as well as her video on ‘rape culture’. While she’s not as prolific as she once was, due to her doing an advanced business degree as well as bringing up a young child, the quality of her work never fails to impress. She published a new piece earlier today. Enjoy:

We recommend you subscribe to her site, and while you’re there, why not pick up some goodies from her shop?

  1. Janet is indeed right on the button with this. In my experience responsibility is the core of the gender difference, yet feminists trenchantly tell women to be irresponsible. Professions that should rely on the exercise of professional judgements with accountability for those judgements become hamstrung by policies and procedures designed to conceal or difuse such responsibility. Weasel words about procedures hide Maria Miller’s irresponsible, immoral behaviour. Keir Starmer wants to fetter the responsibility of judges by yet more policy. Workplaces are places wrapped in red tape designed to avoid the need for a complainant to actually complain to the “offender” first, prior to invoking the power of the company or state. Feminism should actively seek to give every opportunity for women to exercise their agency, as exercising responsibility is how citizens grow. How can women be equal citizens if they won’t exercise the same responsibilities as men?
