Xmas is a key time for unhappy marriages to finally fall apart. Laura Doyle was the writer of a bestselling book about marriage, published in 2001. Out thanks to J for pointing us to an excellent piece by her in today’s Daily Mail:
A disturbing video relating to the cold-blooded murder by an American woman, Susan Wright, of her husband in 2004. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Any man who’d killed his partner in such a brutal manner would surely never be given his freedom. In many states in the US he’d face the death penalty.
Susan Wright claimed her husband had verbally and then physically assaulted her, but there was no evidence to support the claims, and she didn’t file even one report of assault with the police. On the night of the murder she tied his limbs to the posts of a bed, with the promise of S&M sex. She then poured molten candle wax onto his genitals and stabbed him with a large kitchen knife at least 196 times, the first time through an eye. His face and neck alone were stabbed at least 50 times.
There’s one thing we object to in this video, the inaccurate descriptions by the narrator of Susan Wright as a ‘whore’, when she was merely a topless dancer. We strongly object to the vilification of sex workers in any case, whether through such pejorative words, or otherwise.

Followers of this blog can be in no doubt about our deep admiration of the most-visited and most influential men’s human rights advocacy website in the world, A Voice for Men (‘AVfM’) http://avoiceformen.com. Next June AVfM will be hosting the world’s first international conference on men’s issues, in Detroit, as we reported recently:
In the course of a recent Skype conversation with Paul Elam, the founder and publisher of AVfM, Paul invited me – as the leader of the only men’s human rights political party in the world, to the best of our knowledge – to make a presentation at the conference. Needless to say, I accepted without reservation. It will be a great opportunity to spread our message, and the presentation will be video recorded. Our vision is for many countries to have political parties fighting for the human rights of men and boys.
AVfM have generously agreed to fund my hotel accommodation, and the taxis between the airport and the hotel, so all I need to raise now is the cost of the flights, and train fares to and from the airport in the UK. This should come to a little under £1,000 but only if we can raise the money soon. The longer it takes to raise the sum, the higher the cost of the flights.
We haven’t made an appeal for donations for some time, but I’m appealing to you now to help us raise £1,000 to enable J4MB to have a voice at this historic event. I invite you to contribute through the link below:
https://j4mbdotorgdotuk.wordpress.com/donate
There’s only 18 months to go before the 2015 general election, and you can be sure the people driving J4MB – none of whom earn a penny from donations, indeed we’re all financial donors to the party – will be working even harder in those 18 months than they did since the party was registered just 10 months ago. It’s been an incredible 10 months. Thank you for generously supporting our efforts to make the UK a better place for men and boys (and the women who love them).
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. I hope 2014 will turn out to be a wonderful year for you all.
The lack of state support for marriage and for stay-at-home parents is a scandal. Our thanks to J for pointing us to a piece in yesterday’s Daily Mail:
[Note added 18.10.14: This post was originally published with a figure of £15,000, but it later emerged that the sponsorships available only to women and male-to-female transsexuals are £22,750, not £15,000.]
We recently posted a piece about how female postgraduate students at Brunel University will received £15,000 more grants solely on account of their gender. It prompted us to make a Freedom of Information Act request:
Would male postgraduate engineering students who have gender reassignment surgery either before or during their postgraduate courses, be entitled to the £15,000 p.a. grants?
We’ve just received the following response, which is much in line with our expectations:
131220 Brunel University FoI response
So male-to-female trans-sexual students – even those who are ‘transitioning’ – WILL receive the additional £15,000 p.a. grants. Our eye was caught by the following:
The University’s Equality and Diversity Statement states that, “… all members of staff, students, visitors and applicants for employment or study are treated on the basis of their merits and abilities and that no one suffers discrimination or disadvantage regardless of their race, age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief (including lack of belief), sex and sexual orientation.”
In a moment we’ll be sending a new FoI request to the university:
Giving £15,000 p.a. additional grants to female postgraduate engineering students is discriminating against, and disadvantaging, male students on the basis of their sex, which clearly conflicts with your Equality and Diversity Statement. Do you agree? And if you agree, how do you intend to resolve the matter?
An article prompted by the professional whine merchant Caroline Criado-Perez:
We’ve already done a piece on this story, but an article in the Daily Mail today (link below) has provided more details. Can anyone with an ounce of humanity seriously doubt that the denial of fathers’ access to their children, at the behest of malicious mothers, is a driver of the statistic that three times more British men than women commit suicide? Surely not.

I once said in a speech that the family law system was ‘broken’. A man in the audience – he’d been involved for some years with Fathers for Justice – later pointed out I was mistaken, the family law system works in precisely the way it’s designed to work, to give complete power to mothers, and none to fathers. It’s an emotional assault on fathers and their children. It’s BARBARIC.
We’re huge fans of the Daily Mash here in our global HQ in Bath. It’s been too long since we last did a link to their pieces. Our thanks to Jack (John? Jacqueline? Who knows? What times we live in…) for sending us these links:
One of our previous links to Daily Mash pieces, most of them about odious gender feminists (e.g. Harriet Harman) and their even more odious collaborators (e.g. David Cameron):
