Ellie Slee (‘Huffington Post’ contributor): Mike Buchanan is a ‘rape denier’

Ellie Slee, a Huffington Post contributor, recently won our ‘Whiny Woman of the Month’ award in part due to her refusal to retract a misleading statement about J4MB – that we refer to women as ‘gestational incubators’. We never have done so, we don’t now, and we never would. We politely pointed out to her that her statement was factually untrue, asked her to retract it, and she refused to do so. We’ve emailed the legal team at the Huffington Post saying that if the statement isn’t publicly retracted, we’ll be taking legal advice on the matter.

Ms Slee is evidently keen to carry on in the same vein. In a recent ‘tweet’ she referred to me as a ‘rape denier’. A copy of the sequence in which her claim appeared:

I’ve asked Ms Slee (through her Twitter stream) for evidence to back up her outrageous and libellous claim, but given that no such evidence exists, we’ll be taking legal advice over this too – unless she both retracts the statement and makes a full public apology in a form of words acceptable to us by 6 January, emailed to us at mike@j4mb.org.uk and communicated to her Twitter followers (unaltered) in a ‘tweet’.

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.

The Student’s Union said the same about George Galloway when he attempted to defend Julian Assange.

    • I can’t recall having ever commented on the Assange case, or any other high-profile such cases. I guess it’s just a lazy ad hominem attack which she assumed we wouldn’t find out about. She reckoned without the indefatigable Ms C! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Our female supporters are so unlike gender feminists. They take responsibility for their lives and never whine. Almost never, anyway.

It’s much easier for them to pin labels on people than stand up to the arguments and deal with reality.

  • Good luck with the legal action I have been repeatedly annoyed with the hateful clickbait culture that the Huffington post encourages. A lot of their hate filled authors post for the Guardian as well and they have also taken a lot of backlash for some of their offensive blatantly deliberately sexist content.

    • Thanks Janet. And thanks for your comments on various websites – they always make my day!

  • Perhaps a nom de plume because I cannot find her on Facebook to challenge her post.
Any connections, Mike? She seems such a lovely well mannered lady.

    • Thanks Alan. You’ll be hearing more about her soon, I can’t say any more at the moment, other than I predict things are going to get interesting in Ireland before long…

  • ‘Whiny Woman of the Month’ award? 🙂 Love British humor.
Mike, thanks for being our voice.

    • Thanks Branko but I certainly don’t consider myself as anything more than one of countless voices saying similar things. Gender feminism is a female supremacy movement driven by misandry, and in the UK at least it’s been the only form of feminism of any cultural, political, or economic importance for 30+ years – long before Ellie Slee was born.

J4MB alone recommends 200+ websites and blogs, and I doubt that’s 0.1% of the men’s human rights websites out there. How can the gender feminists deal with that? They can’t. Gender feminists have no strategy to survive the tsunami that’s going to crash over them. At the moment they’re standing on the beach stamping their feet, whining and screeching. People have had enough. Tsunami, take them away…

  • Mike. that’s an outrageous slur with no basis in reality. You’re a gentleman with complete civility and lots of patience, but I think you need to challenge this now.

    • Thanks Peter, challenge underway (she’s currently refusing to accept she’s libelled me). Maybe she has deep pockets?

Looking forward to seeing how the Huff Post’s legal team will respond to her misleading statement about J4MB in her recent HP article. Again, she refuses to retract the statement, or apologise.

  • “Mens rights campaigner, rape denier and party leader @MikeBuchanan11 – who is older than my DAD – is writing abusive stuff about me online!”

Rape denier? I’d suggest that this is a more appropriate description for Ellie herself. Buchanan does accept that boys and men as well as girls and women can be raped and that women can commit rape. I very much doubt that Ellie can do this at all.

  • Mike a question: why are you so obsessed with Ellie Slee? isn’t that a little bit weird and pervy at your age? This is playground ‘boys pushing girls around because secretly they like them’ behavior isn’t it? It’s just that your ‘dislike’ of her seems quite extreme and Freud would have an awful lot to say about that. Maybe just admit it to yourself…the truth will set you free and all that…good luck Mike

    • Sophie, I’m not remotely obsessed with Ellie Slee, and your efforts to shame me (‘weird and pervy at your age’) are laughable – as were her efforts, to be fair. Apparently I’m older than her father, and therefore not in a position to comment on anything she says or does. Firstly you allude to me ‘secretly’ liking her, then state I ‘dislike’ her. Not exactly consistent here, are you? Any ‘dislike’ I have of her is strictly limited to her making a demonstrably incorrect statement about my political party on a HuffPo blog post, then compounding the matter by refusing to retract it (let alone apologise for it) until I alerted the lawyers at HuffPo on the matter. Ms Slee isn’t a schoolgirl, as your ‘playground’ point intimates, she’s a young woman. Are you suggesting a young woman should be allowed to simply get away with misleading public statements? Here’s an idea. Maybe she be accountable for her actions and inactions, as any young man would be? Maybe we should expect her to behave like a responsible adult, rather than petulant child? We could have taken legal action against her, but didn’t. Maybe next time we will.

Feel free to reply to this – I’d be particularly interested to know what Freud would have to say about a 56yo man objecting to misleading statements being made by a young woman about his political party – but I very much doubt I’ll respond. Better things to do with my time.

      • Mike,
Perhaps the young playground girl without responsibility got her big sister to go and have a shout at that big boy who she perceives as pushing around her kid?
Ms Slee has been VERY quiet.
Then again, another nom de plume may possibly be an explanation.
Perhaps when they all grow up they may be able to have a much more mature attitude and demonstrate same by apologising unreservedly rather than blaming the person that they wronged in the first place?
But then again, once you set out your stall as ALWAYS being a victim,….

“A bit pervy” – how old fashioned when the latest, most up to date, most popular, “trending” term is “A bit rapey” eh? (And here’s me with more than a couple of years on you Mike!) Maybe this really is Ellie’s big sister defending the young ‘un, given that she is so obviously out of touch with the latest word on the street (or the playground to use Sophie’s context). Rally Sophie – a bit of a “Block” on this one eh? (<<– humour, just in case you didn't get it. I know its difficult for you young feministas, so I thought I'd help.) As to young Ellie's silence. Well praise the Lord! Maybe her dad did have a quiet word with her after all and told her to button it. We can but hope and pray.
