At the end of another long day fighting feminism, I find some light relief is sometimes called for. So I checked into The Daily Mash and using the site’s ‘Search’ function I tracked down some good pieces. Keying in ‘Harriet Harman’ alone led me to many, including a selection which starts with a couple of pieces from 2008. The damage which that harridan (along with other feminist MPs, and their male collaborators) inflicted on the pillars of this country during the Labour administrations of 1997-2010 is almost incalculable.
David Cameron pursues Harman’s militant feminist agendas with more enthusiasm than Tony Blair or Gordon Brown ever did, to his eternal shame. By way of example, we know he’s personally involved in the government’s drive to increase female representation on major corporate boards:
Cameron’s doing this despite knowing the initiative will damage the financial viability of the corporate sector. I digress. Back to the light relief:

The IEA remains the only think tank in the UK prepared to give any exposure to this issue. We were grateful to have a blog piece on this issue published by them last year (link below) and I later gave a well-received presentation to a capacity audience at the IEA.

I invite you to make a donation to an organisation supporting male victims of domestic abuse in Scotland. From an email I’ve just received from them:
AMIS is a small but effective Scottish charity dedicated to supporting men who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic abuse. In order to raise some much needed funds to continue this good work, 5 brave volunteers will be abseiling 140 feet down the Dundee University Tower on Saturday 24th August.
The employer of one of the participants has agreed to double her sponsorship funding if she can get to £250, so the pressure is on to assist Terri in reaching her goal! If you would like to help Terri achieve this and can spare a few pounds, or would like to support one of our other abseilers, please use our secure online giving facility at https://amis.workwithus.org/. From there you can link through to our own website where you will find information about the charity and other ways in which you can get involved.
Please do help if you can, and if you are in Dundee on the 24th around 1pm do come along and cheer!
Alison Waugh (AMIS Secretary and one of the Dundee abseilers)

International Men’s Day http://ukmensday.org.uk is just three months away. From the associated website:
International Men’s Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated in over 80 countries including the UK on 19 November. It was inaugurated in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago and has backing from UNESCO.
IMD is a global grassroots movement that invites every man, woman, girl and boy in the world to come together and celebrate men and boys in all their diversity. It gives everyone in the UK who wants to celebrate International Men’s Day the opportunity to help work towards IMD’s shared objectives and its six key pillars which are applied equally to men and boys irrespective of their age, ability, social background, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, religious belief and relationship status.
This year’s theme “Keeping Men and Boys Safe” can be found here. In 2012, the theme was “Helping men and boys live longer, happier and healthier lives” and in 2011 it was “Giving boys the best possible start to life”.
