International Men’s Day http://ukmensday.org.uk is just three months away. From the associated website:
International Men’s Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated in over 80 countries including the UK on 19 November. It was inaugurated in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago and has backing from UNESCO.
IMD is a global grassroots movement that invites every man, woman, girl and boy in the world to come together and celebrate men and boys in all their diversity. It gives everyone in the UK who wants to celebrate International Men’s Day the opportunity to help work towards IMD’s shared objectives and its six key pillars which are applied equally to men and boys irrespective of their age, ability, social background, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, religious belief and relationship status.
This year’s theme “Keeping Men and Boys Safe” can be found here. In 2012, the theme was “Helping men and boys live longer, happier and healthier lives” and in 2011 it was “Giving boys the best possible start to life”.
