UNDP/SEESAC recruiting ‘Gender Awareness Expert Trainer’. Yippee.

From time to time one encounters something which gives a glimpse into the extent to which states (72% funded by men, in the UK at least) and organisations such as the United Nations pursue feminist agendas by assaulting the cornerstones of civilised societies through their actions and inactions.

I’m indebted to CP for pointing me to a recruitment advert published on the European Consulting Network, on behalf of UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and SEESAC (The South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearing House for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons):

‘Gender Awareness Expert Trainer’. What will this mysteriously titled person do, you might well ask? From the ‘Background Information’:

UNDP/SEESAC is working closely with the Ministries of Defense in the Western Balkans on the implementation of the project ‘Strengthening of Regional Cooperation on Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform in the Western Balkans’, which was launched in 2012. The objective of the project is to mainstream gender equality in defense reform thus contributing to increased efficiency in the security sector in the Western Balkans.

Throughout its three years cycle, the project is supporting Ministries of Defense in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Republic of Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in their efforts to improve access for women to the military profession, and increase the retention of female military personnel, thus contributing to the UN Security Council Resolution 1325, on women peace and security.

The Project is contributing to the achievement of the following results: 1) institutionalized and strengthened Gender Focal Points (GFPs) in MoDs and the armed forces; 2) improved recruitment and retention of women in the military, and 3) increased gender awareness of military personnel. In order to respond to specific needs of MoDs, project is designed in a way to allow activities at regional and at the country level in line with project outputs and taking into account country specific contexts.

In a sane world, viable candidates for jobs like this would be unemployable.

  1. More gender politics from the United Nations in yesterday’s Daily Mail: “Now UN declares Britain is ‘sexist’: Anger as feminist claims austerity has raised risk of violence against women and our courts favour men” (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3125273/Austerity-agenda-boost-violence-women-programmes-helping-poor-jobless-cut-says-expert.html).

On the subject of prison sentences Ms Manjoo would do well to see J4MB’s article here where she will read that “Conditional on arrest offense, criminal history, and other pre-charge observables, men receive 63% longer sentences on average than women do. Women are also significantly likelier to avoid charges and convictions, and twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted.”
