Nobody at the paper – including Lionel Barber, the editor over 2005-20 – had the slightest interest in the causal link between increasing gender diversity on boards and corporate financial decline. In 2018 we had the ridiculous spectacle of the President’s Club closing after the FT’s confected outrage at the alleged behaviour of some businessmen at an all-male evening, with respect to the “hostesses”.
