Ukraine is becoming a nation of widows and orphans as it confronts a demographic ‘catastrophe’

Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:

This is interesting, coming from a country facing acute problems. Of course being CNN it takes a feminist slant. In fact civilian casualties are remarkably low in this war and so the 100,000 plus “people” dead are overwhelmingly soldiers and male. As are the injured. And the emigrated who left and now seem likely to stay in their safe countries permanently are overwhelmingly female (they briefly mention that men weren’t and aren’t allowed to leave ). However despite the “men are dead, women most effected” slant they step away from feminist orthodoxy to point out the truth of the “biological clock”, the desire women have to be mothers and even the problem that all those dead men are potential partners and fathers, gone.

It covers the deliberate policy of concentrating recruitment and conscription on older cohorts, in contrast to Russia and indeed most other conscripting countries which target 18 plus cohorts. This move is in fact specifically to ensure there are young men left to “rebuild” the country, in recognition that their young men are the most energetic and useful. An example of when the western “luxury beliefs” start to fall apart when the luxury ceases. In Ukraine “gender equality” is likely to reflect what happened in Germany (east and west) and the USSR when the colossal loss of “man power” on the “eastern front” meant women had to do “glass cellar” jobs too. As the article says it’s not expected the millions of women who fled to comfortable western nations will want to return if both sexes have to buckle down and literally rebuild the nation. No one will say it, but the gynocentrism of happily letting millions of women leave will have massive effect on population.

It is interesting that the UK is an outlier in Europe in having no “natalist” policies as part of wanting to address falling populations. And when Reform suggest some mildly natalist policies ( ironically much like those across Europe) the feminists and the other parties invoke ” The. Handmaid”s Tale ” (fiction of course) as if they are “Fascists”. And of course cannot bring themselves to consider that men might have a part to play. The other irony is of course that it is the most overly “patriarchal” communities in our society that will have families and children. I wonder whether any of the lonely old women with cats will reflect on their “choices” when they are surrounded by children of cultures not so hostile to fathers and children. Probably not.

Rose Wylie, 91 – an even more woeful artist than Tracey Emin!

In my international bestseller Feminism: The Ugly Truth (2012) I titled one chapter, “Are some feminists (e.g. Tracey Emin) a pain in the Arts?” In 2011 Emin was appointed a ‘Professor of Drawing’ by the Royal Academy, her total inability to draw not having been deemed a handicap.

A piece (£) in today’s Times is about Rose Wylie, 91, who is shortly to become the first British woman painter to have a show in the Royal Academy’s first floor galleries. Comments from “J Pomeroy” are representative of the comments in general:

“It’s almost beyond belief what is considered ‘art’ these days, very reminiscent of the pictures my children had painted and brought home from primary school. From whence they lived on the fridge door until the next lot.”

Wylie’s Wiki page sensibly omits to show any of her pictures, but a couple of them are visible here. If I’d been asked to guess the age of the painter, I’d have hazarded a guess at four or five years of age. I recall visiting Tate Britain many years ago, one whole room was bedecked with pictures that were similarly dire (for an adult ‘artist’). I assumed the ‘artist’ had to be a woman and I wasn’t wrong. Tate Britain would never have given that amount of wall space to a similarly talentless man – or, indeed, any wall space.

Rose Wylie’s ‘art’ is so mind-numbingly woeful, she makes Tracey Emin look like Rembrandt by comparison.

Will Sherlock Holmes’ “Old England” disappear?

Our thanks to Paolo for this piece on an Italian website – to auto-translate, click on the “English” tab at the top right corner. An extract from near the end:

A little over a hundred years ago, Great Britain was the world’s sole superpower. Today, even its culture is disappearing. The nation that heroically resisted Napoleon and Hitler first allowed itself to be weakened and debilitated, morally and economically, by socialism, and then meekly accepted Islam’s conquest without putting up the slightest resistance.

Can this trend be reversed? The process seems to have gone too far, and if we look at demographic and cultural trends, the answer is decidedly negative, because today Muslims in England are too numerous, strong, determined, and protected by the left, nestled within the institutions of the state. The probability that Great Britain, between 2050 and the end of the century, will become an Islamic theocracy governed by Sharia law is, in my opinion, extremely high—I’d say 80%.”

Mike Buchanan and Paul Elam: “ANTABUSE: The one-step programme for alcohol abstinence.”

I’ve now been abstinent from alcohol for almost six months, since I first started taking Antabuse (disulfiram). I haven’t wished to drink alcohol since that day.

Paul Elam and I have co-written a short book, ANTABUSE: The one-step program for alcohol abstinence. The Kindle edition is available to order from Amazon here, the paperback edition here.

We recently recorded a discussion about Antabuse and alcohol abstinence, here (video, 37:00).
