Helen Green, 49, “runner on benefits” after arthritis lie jailed for seven months

Interesting. The start of the piece:

“A woman who claimed thousands of pounds in benefits saying arthritis left her on crutches and struggling to leave home, has been jailed after CCTV showed her taking part in classes at a gym.

Helen Green, 49, from Shrewsbury, was also a member of a running club and had completed a 10km run in just over an hour.

Green had told the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that severe rheumatoid arthritis in every joint and a slipped disc in her back had left her housebound, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

She was jailed for seven months after the DWP acted on a tip-off, with investigators establishing she regularly attended a range of gym classes, including Zumba, core blast and spin.”

Robert Kenyon to stand for Reform UK in the Makerfield by-election

Interesting. We wish Robery Kenyon well on June 18. He’s a local man, a self-employed plumber – Farage has already dubbed him “The Plucky Plumber” – who stood for Reform UK at the last general election and acquitted himself well, coming second behind Labour that time.

Sierra Leone’s first lady Fatima Jabbe-Bio, 46, defends having council flat in London

Interesting (Telegraph, £). The start of the piece:

“Sierra Leone’s first lady has defended having a London council flat despite living in a presidential palace.

Fatima Jabbe-Bio, a former actress and model, insisted she had “not committed any crime” by continuing to rent the two-bedroom flat in Southwark.

The 46-year-old is reported to have lived in the property from 2007-2018 before returning to Sierra Leone when her husband, Julius Maada Bio, won the presidency.

They now live in the presidential lodge, a mansion in the hills above Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, which has a swimming pool, tennis courts and a helipad.

But she has retained tenancy of the flat in Southwark, where more than 18,000 people are on the borough’s waiting list for housing, with waits of more than five years to be offered a home.”
