  1. I’m sure he’s absolutely right. Yet there is a part of me that hopes that full on Islamic rules do hold sway. As the likes of Hannah Spencer get to experience what a “Patriarchal” society is like. Like the reason she could dance with “my Muslim sisters” during the working day reflects the fact so many aren’t allowed to work in employment when married and specially with children. Or discover that the Islamic attitude to her LGBTQ+ “friends” is definitely not the “live and let live” attitude in our secular society. Sometimes in my less optimistic moments I imagine such empty headed feminists in a “Sharia Law” society. At least it might give them a “lived experience” of what actual “Patriarchy” looks like. Like we could bus feminists to Blackburn, Burnley, Rochdale, Oldham, Bradford …… etc. And they could set out there to march for Abortion, “Slut Walks”, Gay and Lesbian “rights” etc. And actually experience real revolutionary “struggle” rather than harping on about a few middle class women who became terrorists over a century ago.

  2. Foolishly I read an interview of Louis Theroux about his “Manosphere” programme on Netflix. In which he refers to “influencers” having “medieval” ideas. It struck me in the British Attitudes Survey and a Survey of social attitudes in a number of immigrant communities, highlighted by Sir Trevor Phillips, it was found these communities share these “medieval” ideas as norms. This should not surprise given the age of the holy books that give detailed guidance on every facet of life as it was lived over 1000 years or more ago. I think I can guarantee Louis Theroux won’t be addressing this. Oh and I note “Jess” of the Phillips persuasion still hasn’t got a “Chair” for the still stalled “Grooming Gangs” inquiry. She won’t be wanting to uncover some very “medieval” ideas coming from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Poor thing nearly lost her seat to an Islamist “independent” last election. I really don’t expect that inquiry to ever actually start.

Much better to worry about teenage white boys and their penchant for “edgy” stuff and sticking two fingers up to “the establishment”. It’s just Louis can’t leave go of his delusion he’s “edgy” and “counter culture” still. Rather than a privileged public schoolboy now well into middle age and as establishment as can be!
