Isn’t it fascinating that there is no issue about “trans” men in men’s sport. Specially as in fact, in the UK, there are more young “trans” men than “trans” women. I wonder why the absence of hullaballoo about “trans” men?
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/lifestyle/lifestylegeneral/excluding-trans-women-from-a-female-only-gym-reinforces-narrow-ideals-of-womanhood/ An entertaining tale (actually from last year) of feminist confusion. Introducing a new word, well new to me; “transmisogyny”. The word salads, hypocrisies and contradictions just keep rolling on! All of this reminds me of a contrast. A friends daughter took up weightlifting. Female weightlifting doesn’t have many participants and so she had to train in a practically 100% male gym, male Coach. As she says once they saw she was serious the men were “really welcoming” and now she finds “the guys really get behind me at my competitions”. The dynamic seems to be the “guys” like their sport and welcome people who are serious about the sport. Simple really. I should say she’s always been a “tomboy” and never would turn up in spay on tights and crop tops to a Gym, unlike many “look at me” females.
Going back 20 years, the female golfer, Michelle Wie West was allowed to compete in men’s competitions. She is not transgender, but openly a woman allowed to compete in a men’s sport, and moreover given a head start, teeing off the ladies tees. Here’s a short Wiki summary, “Michelle Wie West (often referred to as Michelle Wie) was a trailblazing golfer allowed to compete in a wide range of both men’s and women’s professional and amateur golf competitions, frequently accepting sponsor exemptions as a teenager before becoming a full LPGA member”. Isn’t it funny how it was seen as “You go girl !”, “Smash the Patriarchy”, etc. at the time. To be fair to Colin Montgomery, he was the only person who spoke out against it at the time.
