GB News are broadcasting live from the Gorton & Denton count, here. Live BBC coverage here.
The final counts included:
Green Party 14,980
Reform UK (Matt Goodwin): 10,578
Labour: 9,364
Lib Dems: 653
Official Monster Raving Loony Party: 159
Advance UK (leader – Ben Habib) 154
The Green Party’s female candidate arrived late for the count, but what can you expect of a plumber?
Reform UK did very credibly, while the vote is catastrophic for Labour. This was Labour’s 38th safest seat in the country at the last general election.
It would appear that the Green appeal to Muslim voters over Gaza has been a vote-winner with Muslims and younger voters, including many students. Many Labour voters, expecting Labour to lose, voted Green tactically to keep Reform UK out – tactical voting of the sort we can expect to pose a problem for Reform UK at the next general election.
George Galloway, leader of the Workers’ Party of Britain, which didn’t field a candidate for fear of splitting the vote, urged people to vote Green.
There seems to have been a troubling amount of “family voting” at the polling stations, I think we’ll hear more about that.

Part of me is glad that the greens won.
Not because I believe that they should
but that people should see the greens in action, in much the same way people voted for labour at the general election… and you saw what you got.
Sometimes people need to experience consequences before they consider their future actions.
This by election was considered by some to be based on racial lines, which will probably aggravate the already sensitive issue around immigration..
Now comes the hard part whereby the greens have actually got to deliver and we can expect to see problems soon enough especially when the voting demographic don’t get what they want from the person they chose to vote for..

There is an irony in this. The “family voting” which is a euphemism for the patriarch making sure wives and offspring vote as required by the clan leaders, is common in some boroughs here. This block vote went to the Greens rather than Labour as usual. Given the General feminist and all things LGBTQ stance of the Greens is really is a remarkable leap of cynicism that they courted the Islamist vote. Of course by elections almost always punish the incumbent Government. Unfortunately this one will further worry the many Labour MPs in this region who rely on the sectarian vote for their comfortable majorities. It is a nail in the coffin of the Gov. Inquiry into the grooming gangs ever getting underway before the next general election. Our favourite Jess Phillips will be worried about her tiny majority at the last election. If there is a “patriarchy” then the clannish Islamic culture is it’s example, this is after all why suddenly we had to produce photo ID to vote! Feminist women wobbling on about “boys clubs” and “the patriarchy” yet courting the votes of precisely such a community! Something’s got to give. And we can see locally that one of the things that gives is Policing with, oh so concerned about wolf whistling and “misogyny” yet absent when gangs of young islamic men roam the streets in pimped up cars doing a darn sight more than whistling.
But then maybe we should hope the sectarian vote does triumph and the feminists find they have facilitated a reality of their mythical evil patriarchy.

This made me laugh out loud. All these years Labour hasn’t been bothered about this ! https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/gorton-denton-byelection-voting-democracy-volunteers-b2928478.html Of course Manchester City Council won’t be doing anything about it, with so many Labour Councillors able to rely on a nice block vote …. until now. A left wing party able to prise away some of the left wing vote and add in appeals to substantial minorities that vote en bloc, probably far more dangerous to Labour in much of their “red wall” large urban areas with substantial ethnic minority populations ( 40% in the city of Manchester. After all what politicians can turn down a proven ability to deliver a substantial vote.

This story really exemplifies the turn for the idiotic the Greens made Pro-Palestine activist who harassed Matt Lucas at Tube station ‘is Walter Mitty fantasist who named himself after Jason Bourne and converted to Islam in the back of a taxi’ | Daily Mail Online As the successful candidate dances with Muslim women (of course not wondering why she won’t be dancing with the men or indeed joining their groups for prayers and much else) while intoning platitudes about one big world of love. Her boss channels Che Guevarra (who was no doubt on the wall of his room when young) as a champion of “social justice” and the theocratic (and decidedly anti socialist) government of Iran! Why does it not surprise me to learn the “Walter Mitty” is from a fatherless and chaotic background and converts to Islam only to complain of “Islamophobia”, clearly a way to be noticed and to get attention and be “special”. The leader of the Lib/Dems has done quite a few “look at me” stunts but Zack Polanski (a stage name) looks set to be full on Walter Mitty champion of student politics, men in dresses and sharia law all at the same time.
