  1. For me the key “take away” from both of the documents presented here is that feminism is a “top down” phenomena in its political and oppressive to men and boys guise. As Alexander Grace shows in the psychology and social-psychology of women and men there are well embedded reasons why individual women latch on to the aspects of feminism that suit their particular circumstances and proclivities. However for the past 50 years at lease the institutionalisation of the ideology has been a product of the conveyor of University to public bodies and lobby organisations at the top. Hence of course the focus on replicating the take over of public services in the private sector by obsessing about Company Boards and Senior Executives. Although it was quite a while ago I recall an analysis that showed that most of the £300 millions “ringfenced” by Gov. went on the lobbying and campaigning arms of Refuge and Womensaid alowing them to be very actively involved with both the Legislators and Senior Civil Service, as well as being the “go to” for the media. The Civil Service in particular relying heavily on them to draft both legislation and Policy and Guidance. This is the powerbase and the source of the legislative and strategy whereby boys and men are systematically excluded form consideration.

In my experience with Womensaid local organisations, there is often a far less “hard line” approach with some actually working for support of abused men. Being local and often ordinary people with husbands, sons, brothers. Its the national body and its big regional hubs that push the completely “gendered” men are evil narratives and turn this into policy that guides Police, CPS, NHS, etc.

In terms of tactics this piece shows the crucial importance of weakening this hold on the “top” and key institutions that supply our “elite”, rather than being too concerned about wider “local” groups. After all as the Fawcett society highlight in survey after survey the majority of people, men and women, have far more “traditional” aspirations and expectations despite the decades of feminist policy and propaganda.
