I find it really impossible to have any sympathy for Prof. Sullivan at Bristol Uni.
She writes: “If the University of Bristol cannot safely host a talk about data, statistics and research on sex and gender,” she said, “something has gone badly wrong. It is a central function of universities to provide a space where critical analysis, dialogue and the pursuit of knowledge can occur without fear.”
Because her Dept. at Bristol University is at the forefront of the “gendered” definition of Domestic Abuse, of the ever widening categories of “Rape Culture”, of the suppression of “surprising findings” when they do very occasionally include males. Indeed if you read her mentioned report for the current Government you find her concern is not about recording sex to find something out, but to make it clear where “women and girls are disadvantaged”. It is feminists just like her who ensured Bristol University is not “a space where critical analysis, dialogue and the pursuit of knowledge can occur without fear” by hounding out or “no platforming” anyone with an alternative view; for example Prof. Graham-Kevan and her associates in Lancashire Universities who challenge the Duluth Model and Gendered theory of DV.
Until Prof. Sullivan, Dr. Stocks and other TERFs admit they are simply experiencing the “karma” of their own ideology and past actions I have no sympathy at all.
