UNITED STATES: Local survivor-turned-advocate Dan Romand fights for recognition of male domestic abuse victims

Domestic violence is an issue far more common than most think. In North Carolina alone, over 35% of women experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

One local man points out an even lesser-known statistic: over 30% of men in North Carolina will experience domestic abuse, too.

“The numbers aren’t that far apart, right?” said Dan Romand.

Romand is a 30-year domestic violence survivor.”
