Reform has dealt a body blow to the two-party system

An interesting piece by Tom Slater for Spiked. An extract:

“As pollster Peter Kellner notes: ‘The tipping point for a party such as Reform is no longer 30 per cent. It’s probably around 25 per cent.’ Which just so happens to be where Reform UK is already.”

  1. In a sense labour had little to lose in this election. What would they care if a set of Tory councils went to Liberal Dems. or Reform. And a Government usually loses a byelection when people realise the promises made were just hot air. However of great interest is what happened in those areas with significant urban electorates that usually go with labour. In Lancashire the old mill towns rejected labour in favour of Reform or “Independents” (the latter being pro Gaza islamist). While in Doncaster the electorate turfed out Labour in favour of Reform (to southerners I should point out Doncaster is next to Rotherham). Similarly looking at Durham the urban areas turfed out Labour in favour of Reform. The next big test will be voting that includes more of the urban areas, the strongholds of labour for a century.

It reminded me of Farrage’s stated strategy, which he credits Paddy Ashdown, to build a solid local base which feeds into actual seats in Parliament. The reason the Lib. Dems. can turn a lower poll showing in Parliamentary elections into a lot of “seats”. His first “test” has been a success in this strategy.

  2. As an example of what is brewing in Lancs/West and South Yorkshires and Gt. Manchester Labour minister dismisses rape gangs as ‘dog whistle’ issueCabinet minister Lucy Powell should RESIGN after dismissing grooming gangs scandal as “dog whistle”, Tories say | The Sun Lucy Powell is in one of the very safest of safe labour seats (though 14% down last election) but many of her colleagues face “insurgent” “Independents” from their Muslim constituents (like Jess Philips) and councils have both these “independents” and others attempting to get local inquiries such as those who wanted a national inquiry in Oldham. Hence Lucy Powell’s desperation to shut the issue down. This obfuscation is to conceal that it was and is Labour who conspired to cover up, despite all their claims about VAWG and the development of “sectarian voting” where Muslim communities deliver a huge “block vote” which adds to the concern to cover up. Is a part of the erosion of Labour’s preeminent position in the regions I’m familiar with. A part of this is exposing both the hypocrisy of feminists and their willingness to conceal the facts for electoral support. Again Jess Philips an exemplar of this being particularly dependant on that Muslim block. The issue rightly discredits labour and its feminism.
