Friends Sophie Bannister and Levi-April Whalley, both 30, said they’d been shopping in New York then officers at Birmingham Airport opened their suitcases, which contained over 35kg of cannabis. Suspended sentences because vaginas.

Our thanks to Graham for this. He writes:

“The sentencing for Bannister and Whalley appears remarkably light, given the severity of their offenses. Both individuals were caught with over 35kg of cannabis, a Class B drug, which had an estimated street value of up to £121,500. Despite the seriousness of importing such a substantial quantity of drugs, Bannister received a 20-month sentence suspended for 18 months, with just 30 days of rehabilitation and 200 hours of unpaid work. Whalley’s sentence was even more lenient—only 16 months, also suspended for 18 months, with 10 days of rehabilitation and 80 hours of unpaid work.

The maximum sentence for importing Class B drugs like cannabis is 14 years in prison. Given the significant quantities involved, these relatively light sentences seem disproportionate to the offence, especially when compared to the maximum penalties allowed by law.”

Janice Fiamengo: “Anjela Borisova Urumova, A False Accuser, Has Been Sentenced to Jail (but not for long)”

Excellent, and good to see the link to a William Collins article on false rape allegations (a topic he also covered at length in The Empathy Gap). I’ve posted the following comments:

Janice, thanks for another excellent piece. The quality of your writing never ceases to impress.

Daniel Pearson shares a surname with Mark Pearson, one of the most famous British victims of a sexual assault allegation. Mark was one of the speakers at the 2016 International Conference on Men’s Issues in London http://icmi2016.icmi.info. The video playlist is here, other memorable speakers included your good self, Erin Pizzey, Karen Straughan, Janet Bloomfield (JudgyBitch), Tim Hammond, Paul Elam, Philip Davies MP…

Janet Bloomfield was the author of a remarkable piece published by A Voice for Men in 2014, 13 reasons women lie about rape.

Mother who killed baby in 1998 gets suspended sentence (update with Nigel’s comments).

Our thanks to Jeff for this. A headline you’ll never see:

“Father who killed baby in (year) gets suspended sentence.”

Nigel’s comments:

“She concealed her pregnancy from her husband by wearing baggy clothes and had an easy birth after which she killed the baby and kept the secret till her crime came to light due to another family member’s DNA in a completely unrelated investigation decades later. None of which sounds like this was anything other than a calculated act. So her then husband has been unaware he had another son who was murdered.

But of course the woman is excused because she was “mad” not “bad” and the death is a “tragedy”. The logic being that she must have been mentally ill because what mother could be so evil to have planned it? Yet plan it she did, and would have taken the secret to her grave. “Two-tier justice” right on display.”

‘We need more men to be teachers’, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson says, with boys’ behaviour ‘the defining issue of our time’

Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:

After all the years of evidence of “man deserts”, chaotic families and single parent families being linked to gangs, knife crime, crime in general and the disintegration of life in “sink estates”, suddenly following a drama on TV – Adolescence – a feminist Labour minister thinks boys should have male role models at school and “at home”. “But only one in four of the teachers in our schools are men. Just one in seven in nursery and primary. One in 33 in early years. And since 2010 the number of teachers in our schools has increased by 28,000 – but just 533 of those are men. That’s extraordinary.”

Well, yes, indeed it’s extraordinary, but who has been crowing for years about all those “amazing women”? Which group thinks its just fine that thousands of boys fail in school because in later life a few become CEOS? And which party has led the charge against the “oppressive” traditional family, excluding fathers whenever possible? And now they want male role models? I expect no apologies for decades of feminism.
