Hungary announces historic tax cuts for mothers: “Global sensation!”

Our thanks to Steve for this. An extract:

“In a social media post, Orban declared that Hungary is “making history” by creating the world’s first family-centered economy. The new policy introduces major income tax exemptions for mothers, as part of his government’s push to boost the country’s birth rate.

According to the Hungarian politician, mothers with one child will be exempt from paying income tax until they turn 30 years old. At the same time, mothers with two or more children will be completely exempt from paying income tax for life.”

FIFA report highlights the inequities in women’s soccer

Yawn. An extract:

“Women’s soccer is not yet profitable, with top-tier leagues generating an average of $4.4 million in revenue but spending an average of $7.6 million. The lowest tier averaged $76,000 in revenue, with $182,000 in expenses. FIFA did not identify the individual clubs within each each tier.”

Women’s soccer is a parasite on men’s soccer. Why should even a penny from men’s soccer go towards women’s soccer?

J Meirion Thomas: “NHS insider: We should train British doctors instead of importing doctors from abroad.”

J Meirion Thomas is a retired cancer surgeon. In 2014 we published a blog piece titled Why having so many women doctors is hurting the NHS. It commented on (and linked to) a Daily Mail piece by the same man, Why having so many women doctors is hurting the NHS: A provocative but powerful argument from a leading surgeon.

He wrote an article published today on Matt Goodwin’s Substack channel, NHS insider: We should train British doctors instead of importing doctors from abroad.

‘Horrendous’ army fitness standards require troops to be no fitter than children

Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:

“The Army’s drive to have a higher percentage of women means reducing its effectiveness as a fighting force. As with the Police, Fire Services and RAF our safety and security is compromised by the application of “DEI”.

“One infantry PTI, who didn’t wish to be named, told the Express.co.uk: “Fitness standards are horrendous, the army is not prepared to fight. It is actually a joke.”

And why is our Army acting in this way to reduce its effectiveness? Well, until 2019 it had higher standards for men than women, but this is in fact unlawful and so it had to adopt a general standard. “Standards have become standardised regardless of gender but current tests require troops to run 400m less whilst being given an increased amount of time to do it within” and the tests changed to an “assessment” that in practice isn’t enforced. No doubt achieving the goal of recruiting and retaining more women. But at the cost of our safety as our Army becomes less fit.

The fiction that women and men are equally physically capable resulting in the reality that our Armed services are less effective.”

Kristina Murkett: “In defence of single-sex schools”

Our thanks to Jeff for this wonderful piece in The Spectator (£). Kristina Murkett spent two “exhausting” years teaching English at a mixed comprehensive, then moved to teach at an all-boys independent school which she much enjoyed. She is convinced that, far from being relics from a former age, all-boys schools are needed now more than ever.
