Joshua Rozenberg: “Sense in sentencing”

Joshua Rozenberg is a British lawyer and the husband of Melanie Phillips. Our thanks to DM for this. He writes:

“The Sentencing Council still do not want to remove women from the list of “cohorts” who should get a pre-sentence report before deciding on a community service or custodial sentence. Blatant sexism!!”

Bit late for that, we already saw this last year in which dissenters of Starmer were treated because they were protesting about stockport( and other issues featuring inequality of justice).

I suspect this is really about muting the demographic who is most likely to be the biggest challenge to the inequality and abuse comitted by govt and unelected/unaccountable bodies. This will further erode the legitimacy( perceived and actual) of current govt and fuel further unfavourable reactions on the streets, if you read elsewhere, there are claims that a civil war has already started.

Remember this is the same sentencing council that put in a cohort of responsbility for dependent relatives( children, elderly relatives) which was twisted by feminists to apply to women only and all women regardless whether they met this cohort.

There is talk about recruting more judges to deal with a backlog, but it appears that lawyers baulk at the idea of taking a pay cut to become a judge.

This is what happens when you create an independent judiarcy with no accountablity to the electorate. you can thanks tony blair for creating this..
