Kristine Larson, Los Angeles Fire Department $300K-per-year diversity chief, sparks fury for defending DEI by blaming the victim: ‘He got himself in the wrong place’

Our thanks to CP for replying to our piece on British firefighters being too white and too male with this. We linked to it last month when the story broke, but thought it worth linking again. In saying that a man in need of a firefighter to get him out of a fire was “in the wrong place” – because Kristine Larson as a female firefighter couldn’t or wouldn’t do so i.e. her male colleague(s) would have to do so – she inadvertantly admitted that while women earn equal money with men in the fire service, they deliver less and take fewer risks i.e. the public is less protected.

Firemen are too male and too white, say chiefs

More madness (Telegraph, £). The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) published Independent panel reports to NFCC with calls to action on culture and inclusion, the actual report is here. It claims to have found – quelle surprise – racism and misogyny, and stated that firemen in Britain were not “diverse” enough because the service’s proportion of women and ethnic minorities is less than in wider society. Nothing on fewer women than men wanting the jobs, nothing on fewer women than men havng the required physical fitness, nothing on women’s reluctance to work night shifts…

Charleston Festival reveals star-studded line-up of activists, leaders, artists and writers for 36th festival of art and ideas

The historic American city of Charleston has an upcoming festival of art and ideas. Sadly the contributors include an impressive cast of complete blithering idiots including Cherie Blair, Cathy Newman, Laura Bates, Nick Clegg, Sarah Lucas, Lady Hale and Thangam Debbonaire. I should sooner gnaw off both my feet without the relief of anaesthetic than attend this appalling event. I imagine the same would be true of anyone with an IQ above that of an inebriated fruit fly.
