This has been rumbling on for a couple of years and this gives the detail of the DEI “problem”Nearly half of women fail garda fitness test as younger candidates also struggle – Irish Mirror Online As here the result will be that over the years there will be an increasingly unfit and puissant force turning into a “service”. This really illustrates the idiocy of DEI making changes to represent the “community”. Which community? In the overall population of adults the age profile is increasingly elderly (a constantly rehearsed “crisis” ) Should the Garda become a “Dads Army”? Should it be restricted to the “working age” population. And be a solidly middle aged service? Perhaps wisely it might reflect the “criminal community” which is pretty young and mainly male? After all the “customer base” is mainly younger and male. The Videos of the Manchester Airport incident show quite clearly two young male assailants quickly brushing off two female officers, leaving the one male officer to subdue the pair. One cannot help but think three fit male officers would have had the incident done in seconds. So how about reflecting the “customer” community, otherwise there is little chance of catching thieves or quickly quelling disturbances. Oddly enough I doubt anyone would regard as sensible the idea of reflecting the age structure of the general population, because few would argue pensioners like me (66) are as robust as a 25 year old. Yet we have to pretend the very big differences between men and women, so obvious and vital in Sports of all sorts (see the TERF wars) are non existent in keeping order and enforcing the law.
