Our thanks to Peter for this. The Last Dinner Party is an indie rock band. You may note in the photographs in the Sky article that no men are shown as band members, and the photograph from a live performance has the drummer obscured. Their Wiki page has no men in the image either, but it includes this:
“They have no permanent drummer, and are currently joined during live performances by Casper Miles.”
Ah yes, Casper the Ghost. What are we to conclude? Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves – except when they need a drummer, apparently.

Yes I did smile at that, though in the story I read the accompanying picture did show and name Casper in the picture! I should check if that changed to get the “right image”. Also idiotic is the excitement about an all female band, as if its remotely “new”. The Runaways, Heart in the 70s and then the Bangles in the 80s all getting into my record collection. Not to mention the various “disco” bands. In fact now Youtube alows me to watch again the bands of my youth it is striking how very “diverse” Bands were in both decades (possibly because they had to play instruments and even sing in those days), far more so than now.
I’m glad the story has been out there as its a measure of both the demonization of males( clearly the assumption is that the blokes couldn’t just be fans of the band and their music they must be “pervs”) and of course the idea that “diversity” somehow specifically excludes heterosexual males.

Thanks Nigel. In the early to mid-70s we had Fanny, so to speak https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanny_(band).
Wiki describe “Sisters are Doin’ if for Themselves” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisters_Are_Doin%27_It_for_Themselves as a feminist anthem. The entry then goes on to say how there were four male musicians on the track recorded with Aretha Franklin:
“The track also features three of Tom Petty‘s Heartbreakers: Stan Lynch on drums, Benmont Tench on organ, and Mike Campbell on lead guitar, plus session bassist Nathan East.”
Hmm, it seems the sisters aren’t doin’ it for themselves…
