A ballroom dancing hedonistic Economist. Clearly a must read. One of the daftest ideas these days is “post industrial society”. Because of course the Industries are still busily mining, manufacturing, drilling, building and so on. Its just that an awful lot of them are doings so in India. China etc. They didn’t disappear at all, just moved, where men still toil to mine, make and transport the stuff that makes our western lives possible. However being in other places they appear to be invisible to our chattering classes, who must imagine that so much of their comfortable lives is provided by hidden pixies.
