Our thanks to Martin for the following.
“The text of the King’s speech is here. The end of paragraph 12:
“My Government will bring forward plans to halve violence against women and girls.”
For context, the Government has an objective to halve ‘serious violence’, see page 56, bullet 1 of the background material (104 pages). Further detail on page 59 , bullets 2,3, page 62, bullets 2 (especially sub-bullet 2), 3, and page 63, bullets 4,5.
As far as ‘violence against women and girls’ specifically is concerned, questions which may be of interest to J4MB supporters include:
- What happens to ‘Male victims of Crimes considered to be violence against women and girls’, by the Home Office, are those victims therefore to be included in the target to halve these offences , (given those offences include some particularly heinous crimes?), and
- Will men and boys be protected from all acts (of gender based violence) ‘that result in, or are likely to result in physical, sexual, psychological, or economic harm or suffering..’ (Istanbul Convention Article 3(a) extract), by being included in the halving target?”
The more you protect something, you increasingly invite fraud and embellishment. Imagine if your insurance company wasn’t allowed to properly investigate you claim, would insurance fraud increase? That’s where we’re at.

A reminder of the gender health gap that Labour won’t be interested in doing anything about The parts of Greater Manchester where men are dying far too young – Manchester Evening News The irony is that the very areas that are highlighted are the former areas of heavy industry and where the men in the “glass cellar” occupations live, once just the sort of areas Labour represented. Yet now of course there won’t be any concern shown by feminist Labour for the health of labourers or indeed any men, despite the “gaps”. There are small gaps between life expectancy of poorer women and affluent women but these are very much smaller which of course means that there is a big gender health gap between women and men in these working class boroughs. One gap that won’t be ggetting into any King’s speech any time soon.
